Publisher's Summary

Social talent star Louise Pentland brings us her enchanting and inspiring audiobook.

You'll never forget the day you met #RobinWilde!

'Four years, 2 months and 15 days of single-mum-dom. Didn't someone say this was supposed to get easier?'

It's time for Robin Wilde to change. Her. Life.

Robin Wilde has a beautiful six-year-old daughter, a job she's really rather good at, a wonderful best friend and an auntie who is bonkers, yes, but loves her to the moon and back. But Robin has a secret. Behind the mask she carefully applies every day, she can't shift the grey, lonely feelings of The Emptiness.

She struggles to fit in with the school mum crew, online dating is totally despair-inducing and she worries all the time about raising her daughter with self-confidence, courage and joy. What Robin wants, more than anything, is someone (over the age of six) to share her life with. But Robin Wilde isn't one to wallow. If change won't come to her, she'll just have to go out there and find it.

Exciting new opportunities are about to come Robin's way.... Perhaps a man, perhaps the promise of an adventure.... What will Robin do with the possibilities she creates? And when her perfect moment comes, will Robin be brave enough to take the leap?

Enchanting and uplifting. Very funny. This audiobook will make you feel fantastic just for being you.

Very surprising

I am a busy mum to two very young children. I don’t get time to read these days so I thought an audio book to listen to in spare moments would be a nice idea. Well I ended up loving this book so much I got through it in only a couple of days, I’m sure my children got sick of hearing it in the background! I guess I’m going to have to just start the second one! Haha.

I rolled my eyes a lot

This book was a woman complaining about not having a boyfriend and her self-imposed social status for hours on end.
I expected laughs, insight and character development but GOD the complaining.
Narrator was the only good bit

Low Quality Chick Lit

While this might save you from boredom on a 40 hour layover, or while hunched on the backseat of a long bus ride, the other merits are watery at best. The writing is not terrible, although incredibly cheesy, but the story itself is lacking.
Dishevelled woman meets PERFECT man. Perfect man LOVES her. Dishevelled woman is insecure but starts to feel positive. Perfect man dumps dishevelled woman. Dishevelled woman realises she does not need him, she can be happy on her own.

I know chick lit is in essence, a genre of rewritten storylines. However this story (for me) had absolutely no originality. It was extremely run-of-the-mill. The kind of novel I would expect a robot to spurt out after reading Bridget Jones 100 times. Everyone is beautiful (SO BEAUTIFUL) in an overdone way, except the protagonist. It's like the author is holding up a cue card saying "SHE IS ENDEARING, DON'T YOU RELATE?"

I found myself droning in and out of interest with this story, and yet, I knew exactly what was happening, because there are NO surprises. She goes to work, and of course it turns out perfectly! She is the BEST. She goes overseas. And of course it turns out perfectly, because she is SO DESIRABLE (except we've spent the whole first part of the novel being told she's average). Her daughter enters a hat competition, and of COURSE she wins. It's all very la-la-la and absolutely no substance nor relatability. While the author certainly touches on human issues that are very real and weighted (infertility, death, critical illness, divorce), I felt that the conversation around it was frivolous and more focused on the protagonist's WONDERFUL friendship skills, and how FANTASTIC the protagonist is at supporting her friends, rather than actually making a substantial comment on the issues themselves. Had I been in any of the aforementioned circumstances, I think I would have been hurt or perhaps offended at this. If you are the sort of person, however, who does not enjoy any semblance of dissention in your novels, this one is for you. It will not make you cry, it will not make you feel anything other than a raised eyebrow at some questionable sentence structures.

By far not the worst novel I've ever read, however I would not recommend it as chick lit. Do yourself a favour and steer towards Sophie Kinsella and leave this one on the seat by the trash can at LAX.

Really hits a gap in the market

Never read or even heard of a book targeting single motherhood. Very good, wholesome and interesting look into a life I can’t relate to
