Publisher's Summary

“Well, now I’m committed,” he thought to himself after telling a national TV game show audience that he wanted to ride a motorcycle to Mongolia with his winnings. He felt the fear that commitment always induced in him; he was hoping they might have edited that bit out. Commitments are something he tried to get as far away from as possible, the only other constants in his life being twenty-five years of financial prudence, travel and motorcycle obsession. So there he was, committed to going very, very far on a motorcycle with his meager prize money. Consequently, he spent a winter on eBay and a spring in the garage preparing his $1000 KLR 650 for an uncertain life on the road. Armed with a cynical humor, a strong sense of direction, a vague sense of balance, and no sense of proportion, he embarked on a 15,000-mile solo motorcycle ride to see what would break first; bike, body, or budget. Leaving an indifferent existence in England behind he headed east, looking for purpose, a new life, and a new location to live it. He was in search of greener grass.

Real and raw adventure travel

Having read Graham’s books, to relive his real and sometimes raw adventure travel story told in his own words is fantastic. Relived through his travel diary it is far from a daily account of the mundane. Highly recommend for lovers of adventure motorcycling and travel alike.

If you love motorcycles - this is it!

Great book, beautifully written. Absolute must if you like anything to do with bikes. Graham has a great sense of humour which follows him throughout the whole journey.

Absolutely Fantastic

What an awesome adventure I can’t recommend it highly enough and narrated by the author, who better to tell the story? Definitely worth a read or a listen.

Listen to a miserable Brit complain for 14hrs

It was a glorified diary written by a miserable man. this book would have benefited from some editing and proof-reading but would have benefited a lot more from a positive author.
The archetypal entitled Westerner who complained the moment that the world didn't bend to his will.
The author did a trip halfway around the world - a trip many of us could only ever dream of - and managed to find something to complain about on every single day. What is more, he wasn't even consistent with what he complained about. He complained about having company but then complained about being alone. He hated the mere thought of satellite navigation but was happy enough to take advantage of it if someone else was navigating.
He was rude and dismissive about almost every other traveller he encountered - often failed to even record their names and just referred to them by whatever derogatory nickname he came up with.
The author was nowhere near as funny as he thinks he is and his attempts at humour/satire fell flat almost 100% of the time.
Full of random rants about technology, satnavs, employment and, strangely, OHS. Topped with a dose of misogyny, constant objectification of women and some old-school homophobia.
From a technical point of view, the author misused a number of common phrases/sayings (not sure if it was in the text or just the audio) and his reading of the book just oozed his overall negativity.
