Fred Forsyth at his best

masterfully told, with all the exquisite, obsessive detail that is so the marque of FF this tale pits the skill and determination of a lone ex Green Beret against the combined with of Scotland Yard, the CIA and FBI.
There's the unavoidable romance, classic maniacal genius on the manipulator side and bombastic Washington beaurocrats. In many respects reminiscent of later James Bond stories, but with more colour and detail.
Told with skill and engagement, certainly caught my attention, even if the plot was ever so slightly predictable.
Perhaps not as spellbinding as "Day of the Jackel" but better than " The Forth Protocol", this ranks highly on the Forsyth library.

Amazing & epic story.

Loved the globe encompassing storyline where the fate of whole nations can be affected by actions of few people.
All seemingly small situations around different parts of the world combine to form a cohesive thriller, where the suspense & will keep you reading till the end.
Excellent book.

Very good

The first quarter of the book is long winded and sets the scene but it’s worth the effort to keep going. Once the main character takes his place the story gets very exciting

Still Good After All These Years

i read this book when it was first published, about thirty years ago. Now I listened to the audiobook and the story is still a good plot, well written. The performance was very good. An enjoyable audiobook.

Great story! Amazing narration!

I believe this to be one of Forsyth’s best books and the narrator, Steven Pacey, did an incredible job! He managed a different voice for each character, male, female, English, American, French, Russian, Dutch, German, perfect accents! Well done! A really good listen!
