Publisher's Summary

From the team that brought you The Obstacle Is the Way and Ego Is the Enemy, a beautiful daily devotional of Stoic meditations.

Why have history's greatest minds - from George Washington to Frederick the Great to Ralph Waldo Emerson along with today's top performers, from Super Bowl-winning football coaches to CEOs and celebrities - embraced the wisdom of the ancient Stoics? Because they realize that the most valuable wisdom is timeless and that philosophy is for living a better life, not a classroom exercise.

The Daily Stoic offers a daily devotional of Stoic insights and exercises, featuring all-new translations from Emperor Marcus Aurelius, playwright Seneca, and slave-turned-philosopher Epictetus as well as lesser-known luminaries like Zeno, Cleanthes, and Musonius Rufus. Every day of the year, you'll find one of their pithy, powerful quotations as well as historical anecdotes, provocative commentary, and a helpful glossary of Greek terms. By following these teachings over the course of a year (and, indeed, for years to come), you'll find the serenity, self-knowledge, and resilience you need to live well.

No Doubt. My favourite book of all time!

nothing comes close to exceptional value more than this book.

Officially I started without listening to the instructions and just went through it one after the other.

don't do that! Journal on what this teaches and only do 1 chapter per day.

I wrote out the book in an exercise book and did an activity making the lesson relevant to my own life. Then rewrote a summary of the days teaching in my journal. This has been a habit that I've thoroughly enjoyed over the last year.

I'll be doing this again and again every day on an ongoing basis. rewriting the activities that I choose making them relevant to each time in my life.

the value you'll gain from this book is insane if you use it correctly.

An absolute game changer. If you're not convinced on putting the work in with this or you are only just starting in Stoicism. I'd recommend How to think like a roman emperor first and then do this via the method mentioned.

This will give you a little more insight into the Philosophy which got me on board to do this book properly.

I love it and wish that it reaches billions of people. Very grateful to be learning wisdom from people who lived thousands of years ago no idea how the teachings survived but a true injustice to yourself if you don't read it.

The one book everyone should read ...

The same problems we're dealing with now, people have been dealing with these for thousands of years.
The problems we face in our time have never been greater, but our capability to solve problems and technology at our disposal have never been more powerful.
As for the ancients, our most powerful asset is our own mind. To conquer our problems, we must first conquer ourselves; our thoughts and emotions.
Stoic philosophy is the tool to fix our minds.

great book. mismatched narration.

loved the material, but found the narrator cheesy and overly theatrical, especially considering the subject matter.

Best book I have listened to on this platform

Well worth the price of the book. This could be life changing for the person who truly explores and utilises the ideas in the book.

It’s a book that you might need to listen through a few times and might use as regular reference in day to day life
