Publisher's Summary

This book has been adapted for audio and is partly dramatised.

"The dog was lying on the grass in the middle of the lawn in front of Mrs Shears' house. It looked as if it was running on its side, the way dogs run when they think they are chasing a cat in a dream. But the dog was not running or asleep. The dog was dead. There was a garden fork sticking out of the dog."

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a murder mystery novel like no other. The detective, and narrator, is Christopher Boone. Christopher is fifteen and has Asperger's, a form of autism. He knows a very great deal about maths and very little about human beings. He loves lists, patterns, and the truth. He hates the colours yellow and brown and being touched. He has never gone further than the end of the road on his own, but when he finds a neighbour's dog murdered he sets out on a terrifying journey which will turn his whole world upside down.

Please Note: this title starts at Chapter 2. The main character has a preference for prime numbers, so he numbers his chapters according to primes: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11 etc.

Narration doesn't make sense and is just annoying

The narrator sounds around 12 or 10 and the boy is supposed to be 15, I really like this book but it's extremely off-putting and I couldn't go through with it

waste of time,

have you ever wondered what it was like to have an autistic son? well look no further than this book, give it a read if you want to listen to 5-6 hours of complaining and repetitive words and by the end of it you'll never want to listen or read it again i wish i could un-hear this story and never listen to it again

insightful

an incredible view into the world of the child with learning difficulties, and beautifully narrated by someone who brings the character to life

What a sweet book ...

I enjoyed it, and it held my attention to the end. I now have a better insight into how must feel to be on the spectrum. I was puzzled by the choice of reader - he was a 15 yr old boy, but sounded much younger. Having said that, it thought it was read brilliantly. It was touching and you experienced the innocence of the speaker. On reflection, I'd say the reader was well chosen. Great story, and wasn't predictable - not for me anyway.

Painful

The whole thing was painful!
Found it really hard to listen to and the only reason I pushed through to the end was to find out what happened - wasn't worth it.
Probably the only audiobook I have really struggled to get through

Inspiring!

A wonderfully written and narrated story. Simple and concise, however the overall message is powerful. A very unique and interesting perspective, very insightful. Highly recommended! Very easy listening.

Brilliant...

What a great book. The narrator is brilliant and tells the tale from the perspective of a young boy with autism. I didn't want it to end.

Thought provoking perspectives

Writing about a child with autism would be hard, but writing a story about a child with autism from the child's point of view would be harder.

This is an amazing and insightful story with both heartwarming and confronting plots and scenes.

The delivery was impressive and the performance was memorable.

slow read

I understand what the writer was trying to achieve but this book was painfully slow. A challenge to finish
