Publisher's Summary

Strap in for the ride of a lifetime with the blistering new novel from America's greatest living thriller writer, Nelson DeMille.

Daniel 'Mac' MacCormick has a good life. Aged 35 and a decorated US Army veteran, he whiles away his life in stunning Key West, Florida, running a 42 foot charter fishing boat, The Maine. A ladies' man and rule breaker, Mac has it all - apart from the money to hold on to his beloved boat.

Then Mac is approached by a hotshot Miami lawyer called Carlos with an apparently irresistible offer: a fee of $2 million to run the boat into Havana and smuggle out $60 million from a stash hidden from the Castro government - cash once owned by the family of a beautiful Cuban American woman named Sara Ortega.

With the political 'Cuban Thaw' underway, it's only a matter of time before someone finds the stash. But Mac knows if he accepts this job, he'll walk away rich...or not at all.

Punchy, witty and rammed with action, The Cuban Affair once more shows legendary international number one best seller Nelson DeMille is a true master of the genre.

A once great writer gone to seed

Love Nelson De Mille, but this book reminds me of that train wreck of a concert by Meat Loaf at the AFL Grand Final a few years ago. Just absolutely embarrassing and sad to see.

The plot was just silly, they’re meant to be on a clandestine trip in Cuba and the lead character is constantly drawing attention to himself unnecessarily. The story was irritating from start to finish. I found myself thinking several times that it was like an AI parody of a Nelson de Mille book. Definitely not recommended. Wish I had just re-read Plum Island instead of reading this.

Nevwe been to Cuba? You'll want to now.

My memory of Cuba has a different perspective to Nelson's as I am Australian and was not looked at the same as Americans which made it an even more interesting book.
I loved the characters and Scott was brilliant the way he brought them to life.
There was not as much action throughout the book as I expected, but the reality is it would have been less believable if there had been more.
Not giving away the story, the exit of the characters from Cuba is a thrilling ride and as a Veteran I can tell you it is very a realistic and accurate account written by someone who has lived through the experience themselves and some very moving moments between Mac and Jack that brought me to tears Scott did an amazing read and made and brought so much to the story. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did and try to get to Cuba.
