Publisher's Summary

Stuntman and two-time cancer survivor Memphis Haines excels at beating the odds. When he's presented with the opportunity to help his ex-boyfriend with a charity event, he jumps at the chance to make up for the devastating way he left Tyler 10 years ago. Memphis might have taken the college geek's virginity, but the former mathlete is now a hell of a head turner.

Tyler Hall sticks to one simple mandate: no more dating ex-boyfriends. Ever. He certainly isn't interested in hooking up with Memphis Haines. Ten years ago, falling for Memphis changed Tyler's life. The man's abrupt departure turned his world inside out. But he moved on long ago. Besides, he has a clinic for the homeless to run. Memphis, however, seems determined to rehash the past. And his hard body and confident charm are resurrecting ultra-hot memories best not remembered, making Tyler's rule harder and harder to keep.

Contains mature themes.

Love the layers peeled away in this!

Dr Tyler Hall has been devastated by abrupt abandonment twice, once by his mother when he was a child, and once by one of his boyfriends, Memphis Haines - both left without a word. Tyler has been in other relationships, but Memphis is the one that hurt. Years later when Memphis seeks him out again, Tyler is determined not to let himself be hurt again, but he’s puzzled by Memphis’s new hectic, almost manic, pace. Stuntman and underwear model, Memphis is determined to get Tyler to forgive him for the past, but he’ll have his work cut out for him breaking down Tyler’s carefully unemotional exterior.

I’m REALLY enjoying this series, there are intriguing hidden depths to each of them! This story reads as a straightforward second-chances romance but there are layers and layers to both men. I was amazed how well River Jaymes rehabilitated Tyler, who was definitely the villain in The Backup Boyfriend. Learning his backstory made me more and more sympathetic to him and although Memphis rankled early on, I could relate to him too once the layers were peeled away. I’m also really enjoying Marc Bachman’s audio narration in this series! (The series is currently free on the Audible Plus catalogue).
