Story
Charity Farrugia is too sensible to believe she'll find love in a paddock. After all, at thirty-four, she's the one with the secure career and the mortgage. The one who took on the job of raising her two sisters when Mom got sick. Everyone knows she's the practical one. The responsible one. Yeah, the boring one. But it would be neither safe nor prudent to let Faith and Hope spend a weekend in the country without her, would it?

Publisher's Summary
An extraordinary story of friendships, hidden secrets... and the consequences of facing the truth by the best-selling author of The Patterson Girls.
Little secrets grow up to be big lies...
They've been best friends since their sons started high school together, and Felicity, Emma, and Neve share everything...or so they thought.
But Flick's seemingly perfect marriage hides a shocking secret which, with one word, threatens to destroy her and her family's happiness. Emma is in denial about a potential custody battle, her financial constraints, the exhaustion she can't seem to shake off, and the inappropriate feelings she has for her boss. And single mum Neve is harbouring a secret of her own; a secret that might forever damage her close-knit relationship with her son.
When the tight hold they have each kept on their secrets for years begins to slip, they must face the truth. Even if that truth has the power to hurt the ones they love, and each other.
Perhaps some secrets weren't made to be kept.

Straight Spouse perspective (Spoiler Alert)
Great book but a challenging listen. I really identified with Flick as someone whose (ex-)husband “came out” in his 50s. Rachel Johns has really captured the range of emotions - anger, shame, staying in his closet and a whole lot more. The ending is reflective of many heterosexual spouses experiences, which I doubted would happen for a while. My favourite Rachael Johns book
This is the third book of Rachael's that I've read and it's my favourite so far. I read The Patterson Girls first and this one is so so so much better. She's really hit her stride with this one. The characters are three dimensional and complex and had me empathising with them and cheering for them. There were some really emotional moments and some funny ones. Absolutely adored all three of the MC's storylines but was particularly captivated by the couple with the 'perfect marriage.'
