After seven years of bitter war, the end has come at last for the conflict known infamously as the Horus Heresy. Terra now lies within the Warmaster’s sights, the Throneworld and the seat of his father’s rule. Horus’ desire is nothing less than the death of the Emperor of Mankind and the utter subjugation of the Imperium. Dan Abnett and Toby Longworth....master stroke
I would listen to Toby Longworth read the back of a cereal packet, but put in front of one of the most finely written and gripping Warhammer 40k novels by Dan Abnett, then you'll have me glued to my device for the duration. An absolute master class in both the detective and sci-fi genre. This first book introduces a host of deep and multifaceted characters that you cant help but want to get to know and get invested it. A great book and a great performance.

Excellent Author and Narrator
I only wish they'd ramp up the budget, add a second narrator (female) to do the women's voices, then add SFX like a radio drama. But for a standard audio book, this one does very well. The female impersonation isn't terrible.

Inquisition at its finest
Abnett captures the grim dark setting. Bureaucratic societies where everyone has an agenda. The utter dread of chaos. And the cleansing role of an inquisitor and the uniqueness in their individual methods. A great Warhammer novel, an even better sci-fi story.

sci fi detective drama at its finest
being a fan of warhammer 40k already means i already would like this kind of book but it really exceeded my expectations.
this is a book I will listen to over and over again. Dan Abnett writes intriguing stories that capture the every day grind for the imperiums most cunning heros.

Great but odd quality audio
Another great book by Dan Abnett. I'll confess I was a little bored by the setting of the scene early in the book. The latter stage of the story more than makes up for it however.
The audio is less than ideal. It seems to be either too soft or too loud.
