Landover was a genuine magic kingdom, with fairy folk and wizardry, just as the advertisement has promised. But after he purchased it, Ben Holiday learned that there were a few details the ad had failed to mention. The kingdom was in ruin. The Barons refused to recognize a king, and the peasants were without hope. A dragon was laying waste the countryside, while an evil witch plotted to destroy everything.

ok story, appalling reading.
Slightly formulaic story nearly ruined by dreadful, nasal, melodramatic reader, with inexplicable speech cadences.

It’s not bad
It’s lord of the rings. But less women. I think they only mention 1 woman the entire book. It’s all just men being manly. And they follow the plot of LOTR nearly exactly. And also the boss bad apparently just needs therapy

It's a fantastic series, but....
I love the series, its fantastic and don't mind the people fussing over "tolkien knock off", almost all fantasy, including game genres all sound and smell like Tolkien, its almost impossible not to. The main gripe here is this is the only audio version, and it's not great, but it was bearable.
