Story
Killing the sadistic warlord known as the Dog Tongue took everything Gus Berry had, including the woman he loved. Now, all he wants is to get away from the bloody scene of their final showdown. But when he heads west in a stolen truck, a brutal snowstorm forces him to turn back—and seek refuge in the Dog Tongue’s former headquarters. Though it’s littered with human carnage, the abandoned luxury hotel has a lot to offer a guy like Gus. But in addition to soft beds and working toilets, he encounters still-lurking dangers both living and undead.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Story
My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why? I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know.

Story
For dinosaurs, it was a big rock. For humans: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). When the Earth is hit by the greatest CME in recorded history (several times larger than the Carrington Event of 1859), the combined societies of the planet's most developed nations struggle to adapt to a life thrust back into the Dark Ages. In the United States, the military scrambles to speed the nation's recovery on multiple fronts including putting down riots, establishing relief camps, delivering medical aid, and bringing communication and travel back on line. Just as a real foothold is established in retaking the skies (utilizing existing commercial aircraft supplemented by military resources and ground control systems), a mysterious virus takes hold of the population, spreading globally over the very flight routes that the survivors fought so hard to rebuild.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Publisher's Summary
Survivors of an apocalypse take refuge in a mountain fortress and face enemies both living and undead in the first three books of this horror series.
Mountain Man: Ever since civilization collapsed in a wave of chaos and blood, Gus Berry has been waking up, getting drunk, and preparing for the day when “they” will come up the side of his mountain. But when Gus encounters another survivor while out scavenging for supplies, he realizes there are other threats on the post-apocalyptic horizon.
Safari: Living on the outskirts of a zombie-infested city, Gus has grown accustomed to the perils he faces on a daily basis. But now the zombies are disappearing, and a mysterious new threat is assembling—something even more relentless and terrifying than the roaming tides of dead flesh. And it’s preparing to hunt . . .
Hellifax: In a world overrun with zombies, Scott is hunting a remorseless killer who’s all too human. Following the murderer from Annapolis to the ice-glazed landscape of Halifax, Scott encounters half-frozen deadheads, infected vermin, and a few remaining survivors struggling to find safety. Welcome to Hellifax.

Excellent zombie fiction.
The detail in this book was fabulous and makes it stand apart from the zombie film features. The grotesque details read by the husky voiced male narrator make it incredibly enticing to listen to. I'm a big fan of zombie and post apocalyptic things and I found this deeply enjoyable. I actually wish I hadn't listened to it so quickly, which is the mark of a good book, I believe!

R C Bray at his best. Loved it. Even had a soft spot for the Norsemen and Tenner. Book 4 here I come hoping Scott and Gus paths cross again and they ""reunite" with the Captain and his marines "Uh yer!!!!".

Simply Superb Series
Keith gives us a depth of relationship with characters I personally have not felt since David Gemmell. The pivotal character of Gus is a rich, raw, humorous masterpiece (Mr Blackmore and publishers- if you read this, we want more Gus). Keith's cynical earthy realism makes the whole story series sit on the edge of reality, getting our hearts pumping whilst we try to keep our lunch down.

Brilliant
This was a brilliant story great characters and plot.
Book 1 was a great continuation from the prequels had great character development that got you interested in Gus and how he would accomplish his goals.
Book 2 Introduced new characters and added some humorous moments while improving on what was setup in the first book. It also added a mystery which would be later revealed in the third book.
Book 3 Helifax didn't focus on Gus' point of view as did the first two but this book was great at showing how Scott's decisions near the end of book 2 turned out. This book introduced quite a few characters to the plot and the way it told the story through their perspectives was the perfect way to tell the story.
I will now start on book 4 as im not quite ready for this story to end.
