Publisher's Summary

A powerful dungeon. A sheep-herder turned Noble. Their path to ascendance through cultivation.

Conquering dungeons and using them to grow has long been the most efficient way to become a powerful adventurer. The only thing keeping the process from being easy is the Beasts that inhabit these places. Questions plague those entering this particular place of power: Where do the "rewards" of weapons, armor, and heavy gold coins come from? Why is a fluffy bunny charging at me? For abyss-sake, why are there so many monsters?

Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Core, a soul forced against his will into a magical stone. With the help of an energetic friend, Cal grows a dungeon around himself to bring in new sources of power.

When a threat he doesn't fully comprehend bares its many teeth, Cal is determined to survive the attempt on his life. Unfortunately for adventurers, the only way for him to achieve his goal is to eat anyone that enters his depths.

Badly written

Unique concept but characters are not fully thought out and interactions make no sense with personal background i.e Dani is 2 dimensional as a major character with repetitive speech and limited growth as a character pretty much sums up all the characters, not worth the buy

Generic

Every dungeon book I have read had some feature which drew me in . this book is just a generic dungeon story there are several books in the audible library that are more interesting in the dungeon genre this book takes all the standards of the dungeon genre and tries to put a little twist on them but just come out more bland characters are interesting but that's about the best of it.

Fairly awful

This is an unimaginative story written in a pedestrian and irritating way. There are little moments of drama, but they are buried in clouds of poor descriptive language and strained metaphors.

The narrator’s voicing of the wisp is just horrible. Aside from that, he did a workmanlike job, but doesn’t know how to correctly pronounce a great many words.

Don’t waste your money.

Surprisingly good

Was curious how this would go . Really liking it. Was nice twist to have point of view of both the an “adventurer”and the dungeon . Can’t wait for the next book.

Not fond of the characters

Magic system and world are pretty well built, but the character progression feels lacklustre, like they’re gaining knowledge but not really growing as people. The performance in contrast feels too over the top to me. Read up to halfway through book 3, but will be stopping now. Overall not a listen I’m that fond of.

Good to pass the time.

Not really that great. But was interesting enough to get me through. A little technical but thats normal for litrpg.

Be prepared to know more about a human rather than the dungeon core. other dungeon books actually focus more on the dungeon rather than a human. this one splits time and focus with annoying human--my take at least. I skipped some of that.

also no memorable 2nd character. theyre a bit bland. if this wasnt audio, this would be boring.

Dungeon Born

I found this boring and juvenile. I couldn’t bring myself to listen to the end.

What a pile of poop

Spoilers,

The whole audio book is slow until the last 2 hrs and the last fight was a disappointment to say the least. There's so much plot armour in all the characters you have been introduced to it's disgusting for example, the last fight no one died even though the monster was op it could see its victims heart rates and could've finish the kill on the others before it went back to Dale. Not only is the plot armour dumb but so is the dungeon core isn't it smart? If it's so smart why doesn't it change its tactics when Dale's group keep going into the dungeon and finishing it everytime with no problems? he can do it but he doesn't. My final point for this pile of poop is the item drops, in any game or novel there's is balance sometimes when beating a dungeon you get good loot and normal loot but this dungeon core keeps dropping op loot for the adventurers even though they have beating this dungeon multiple times without difficulty and every single time they beat it they get something op like what? where is the balance in that? There is non. This book needs to have less plot armour for every character you are introduced to and balancing for items given out maybe then will this book be good. If you want to listen to a book that makes you feel frustrated then listen to this! I would NOT recommend this book to anyone who I respect.

reimagining of the creation of Norse mythology

what starts off as a pretty good unique dungeon delving series turned into a shitty retelling of Norse mytho it was a rather disappointing ending. narrator did a really good job but they changed to someone else for the last book and that ruins it even more.
