Publisher's Summary

The Second World War was turned on its head at the moment Admiral Kolhammer's ultramodern stealth warships were hurled back through time from 2021. But no one could have predicted just how much of a nightmare would ensue.

Only months after the Transition, the great powers scramble to develop the weapons of tomorrow. The year 1942 is now a world of crude jet fighters, monstrous attack helicopters, and unholy dirty bombs - a mongrel technology, born decades prematurely.

Then, in a radical rewriting of history, Japanese forces sweep into Australia, foreign agents begin a campaign of terror in the USA, and Germany prepares for an all-out attack on Britain. The 21st-century forces must resort to the most extreme measures yet and face a future rife with possibilities - all of them apocalyptic.

Picking up from where he left off with Weapons of Choice, John Birmingham shocks and awes us with this gripping second instalment in the Axis of Time trilogy.

Narrator is much improved

The narrator must have practised a fair bit before this one. There are still a few that aren't quite right, but it is not jarring like it was with the first book.

The narration of Non American accents are a travesty

Please employ multiple narrators to avoid the travesty this narrator makes of non American accents

try to ignore the accents

good story, well read if you discount the terrible accents.
I pushed through because most of the accents are good.

A good yarn…

Aussie accents pretty ordinary, but then the narrator is American…
Not a deal breaker. But….

More narrators maybe?

The attempted Aussie accents were indeed hard to listen to. But overall a good, gripping book.

So bad. So so bad it’s almost good. But it’s not.

The first one of these was funny and b grade and sort of amusing. This one is just dumb. It’s flapping about in the wind with no real direction. The writing is d grade pain. It’s all bad.

The narrator sounds like a 1940s newsreel, which is kinda kitsch but man after 10 hours you just want him to be quiet. And the accents are just unbelievably bad.

The horror.
