Publisher's Summary

Jack Jupiter knows zombies. He's written about them for years. So when Jack's mother passes away in a freak car accident involving a half-eaten deer and a pack of cigarettes, he also knows something's up. Now, Jack and his fiancé, Darlene, are forced to go back to the dreadful town of Woodhaven, Ohio, for his mom's funeral.

But what he doesn't know is it might be their funeral, too.

A few months before Jack and Darlene's arrival, a mysterious flu-like virus swept through the town, infecting nearly every citizen. Now, like ticking time-bombs ready to explode, everyone is dropping dead. But they aren't staying dead. No, they're coming back as flesh-eating zombies.

Not only will Jack Jupiter have to bury his mother, confront high school bullies, and save Darlene, but he'll have to fight the dead in order to stay alive. And these aren't like the zombies from his books.

These walking corpses are real.

Terrible

I love the zombie genre but this terrible story. I struggled through, a couple of hours and just could not continue. The narrator. Had a weird halting way of speaking. The metaphors were just ridiculous for example the tears ran down the bloodsoaked face like Moses parting the red Sea. It’s just a try hard metaphor of epic proportion and the protagonist. There’s been some unlikable protagonists in this genre gung ho soldiers black-and-white characters who are either good or evil, but this guy oh my goodness he is such a wimp and how many times into the zombie apocalypse. Does he have to lie there going? I can’t move with shock I’m frozen to the spot plus the people that are made out to be nasty baddies who recommend a killing of an already dead body so it doesn’t return back to being a zombie and leaving a critically injured person because to carry them would mean more other people die which was proved totally correct but L so-called hero stops these things happening and causes other people to die. I don’t think I have I’ve yelled at a book as much as this one in a long time, I would recommend you keep searching for another better zombie story they are out there
