The Death of Originality

If the last few years have shown us anything it's that people like Tarantino and Scorsese and Aronofsky can entertain us and really speak to us - without adhering to this mapped out formulaic nonsense. When Snyder talks about the scripts he's written - it honestly sounds like the worst kind of predictable Hollywood SHMALTZ...
Seriously, I can't even stand to try to digest it.
It is SO formulaic it makes me wanna puke. If any script I write will automatically be rejected purely because it doesn't have a stated theme at minute 5 and an Act 2 changeover at minute 25 - and a 'showdown' - and an obligatory wrap up - then screw ya - I'll make my own damn movie. I'm not saying plot structuring or character growth or narrative impetus is wrong - no way - but this ridiculous Hollow Wood show mapping can GO JUMP...
