Publisher's Summary

It’s day one of Darren Corliss’ career as a detective, and not only has he been assigned a notoriously difficult partner, but the guy might also be a pill-popping dirty cop. Internal Affairs needs proof, and Darren gets to be their eyes and ears whether he wants to or not.

Detective Andreas Ruffner doesn’t play by the rules, and he doesn’t play well with others. With bodies piling up and a list of suspects who are way above his pay grade, the last thing he needs is a wet-behind-the-ears kid for a partner. Or babysitter. Not even if that partner is easy on the eyes.

As Darren gains Andreas’ hard-won trust, they both realize there’s more than just mutual suspicion simmering beneath the surface. But their investigation is heating up as quickly as their relationship, and Darren has no choice but to go along with Andreas’ unorthodox - and borderline unethical - methods. As IA puts the squeeze on Darren to give up the man he’s falling for, he has to wonder - is Andreas the only cop left in this town who isn’t dirty?

Great characters and story

A bit of a dark story. Political and police corruption, murder, blackmail…. with a sprinkling of humour to stop it from being too dark. Seems like the case is being all tied up at the end. A dash of sexy times and a hfn ending. A story that was enjoyable enough I didn’t want to press pause. The narrator was great. I’m getting the next book now!

Wonderful Narration of a Favourite Book

I loved this as an e-book when it came out, it was on my Books of the Year, and I ended up loving the next two books following - books 4 and 5 were nice but too fluffy for me. Michael Ferraiuolo delivers a brilliant Andreas Ruffner, Darren sounded different to how I imagined him in my head, but once I got used to the narrator's take on Darren's voice I happily settled in.

While this is a gay romance, Risky Behaviour has a police investigation firmly at its heart. It's intriguing seeing these men come together, learning to lean on each other, there are a few hurdles along the way though. Andreas is far from the trusting type, with mostly good reason, and Darren Corliss is a newbie assigned as Andreas' (new in a long line) partner. Throw IA adding their noses into the mix, a slow burn romance, some problematic colleagues and this is riveting reading. There is suspense, we learn about each detective, also their respective families, which does drive emotion, an age gap - a personal favourite - and Risky Behavior heats up to a pretty action packed and satisfying conclusion. It does wrap up with a HFN but there are, in total, another 4 books in the series.

Cari Z and L A Witt work as a well oiled machine when they write together and the Bad Behavior series is a testament to their seamless connection. I'd read most anything they put out. Michael Ferraiuolo takes two of my all-time favourite characters and does a stellar job of breathing life into them. I have the first three books in audiobook version now and I'll be moving right along to Suspicious Behavior next.

Great listening.
