Publisher's Summary

All of us long to know what life after death will be like. Best-selling author John Burke is no exception. In Imagine Heaven, Burke compares over 100 gripping stories of near-death experiences (NDEs) to what Scripture says about our biggest questions of heaven: Will I be myself? Will I see friends and loved ones? What will heaven look like? What is God like? What will we do forever? What about children and pets?

For decades, Burke has been studying accounts of survivors brought back from near death who lived to tell of both heavenly and hellish experiences. While not every detail of individual NDEs correlate with Scripture, Burke shows how the common experiences shared by thousands of survivors - including doctors, college professors, bank presidents, people of all ages and cultures, and even blind people - point to the exhilarating picture of heaven promised in the Bible.

This thrilling journey into the afterlife will make you feel like you've been there. It will forever change the way you view the life to come and the way you live your life today. You'll discover heaven is even more amazing than you've ever imagined.

Amazing!!!

This is my new favourite book. I love how intellectual this book is, it really gives rational food for thought which is just what is needed on the topic of near death experiences. This is the one book I feel comfortable lending to other people on the subject because it’s so well written from an analytical perspective. Highly recommend!!

Exciting and confronting

Great to listen to anecdotes and how Burke has linked it to biblical scripture for accuracy ☺️

Great book, terrible narration

The narrator tried to do different accents for different people which was almost offensive hearing him try to put on the voice of an Indian or Asian woman. He also tried to imitate the voice of a child which was honestly the most irritating voice he used in the entire narration. If he’d just used his normal voice it would have been much better. The book itself was truly fascinating, but the narration really spoilt it.

Wonderful!

I just wish he didn’t try to have an Australian accent for the Aussie and I wish he didn’t try to sound female for the women voices. Otherwise… I can listen over and over again. I’ve just listened twice and am about to hear it for the third time.
We will all die (our bodies will) and after that, face judgement! The bible says that there really is only one way to go to heaven and be in relationship with God the Father. Why risk it, by not looking into it and not reading the bible for yourself?!

Great resource for witnessing

Really encouraging book for what lies ahead and piques the interest in others with plenty of scriptural foundation - I am going to use this as a witnessing tool. I think the narrator did well.

Terrible Christian-pushing book

I couldn't finish it. The whole book is the author trying to convert you to Christianity, even as far as telling stories of how Hindu's didnt see their religion when they died but were met with Jesus in heaven.

The book only speaks of Christian recounts and never mentions anything about the thousands of NDE experiences from people who never met anything Christian after they had passed.

There was even a story where an experiencer saw 'beings of light' but then had to Christianise the wording to 'those were angels'..... no, they were beings of light.

The narrator's voice acting for women and children is cringy. He should have just used his normal voice.

You will only like this book if you're a Christian. But for me, I felt like someone was trying to get me to join their cult.

Good book

Had great Bible verses filtered throughout. Audio was good but voices sometimes too high pitch.

Wonderful book - shocking narration!

Please just read this life changing book for yourself. The actual book is extraordinary and beautiful but the silly voices of female’s testimonies was so off putting I couldn’t listen. I was so frustrated by it. It was like a child treading a book using silly voices. He even seemed to forget what his natural voice was like. It took away from, and made a complete mess of profound and touching stories he even put on childish voices for bible passages. Worse than my year 6 drama classes. What was he thinking?! So unnatural and immature and so unnecessary. I’m not writing this to be mean - I never write critical reviews but I wanted to warn listeners but encourage them to please read book for yourself. John Bourke has created a brilliant book to support our faith and to increase our hope.
