Publisher's Summary

No. 7 Ocean Drive is a multimillion-dollar beachfront house in the Hamptons, but its beautiful exterior hides a horrific past. This house was the setting for a series of depraved killings that have never been solved.

Neglected, empty and rumoured to be cursed, it's known as the Murder House, and locals keep their distance.

Detective Jenna Murphy has moved to the area to escape her troubled past and rehabilitate a career on the rocks. But when a Hollywood power broker and his mistress are found dead in the abandoned Murder House, Jenna becomes involved in a case that at first seems open and shut, but reveals more secrets than she could possibly imagine.

As more bodies surface and Jenna is drawn deeper into the dark history of No. 7, she must risk her own life to expose the truth - before the Murder House claims another victim.

Disappointing

The story was far too long and unbelievable. The twists and turns at times were easy to predict.

Painful

The language is tortured and the acting is grossly overplayed. I tried to push through hoping it would get better. It’s a train wreck of a novel. Jenna Murphy is gullible, stereotyped and galling. Don’t get this book.

Enjoyed this book. About to hear it again.

Prefered the female narrator. Male took a little bit to get used to. Immediately going back to listening again. May not be everyone's cup of tea but I loved it, especially the ending.

Enjoyed it but probably wouldn't read again

Let me first say I enjoyed this book. I've read alot of Patterson's early work but got bored of the series, so when I saw he released a stand alone novel I was keen to give it a go. I listened until the end determined to know who did it. I found it predictable and saw the ending coming but still enjoyed seeing how it all was resolved. I found the main female character to be very frustrated and found myself talking out loud at times (lots of "no dont do that"!). At times I thought about giving up and finding a new book but I felt compelled to keep going just to see i'd guessed correctly (I did). I don't think I could listen again but overall a decent whodunnit story with enough twists and turns to keep you wondering and thinking.
