Publisher's Summary

As the Nazis bring Denmark to its knees, a resistance forms – and make a discovery that could turn the tide of war. From the master storyteller Ken Follett, Hornet Flight is a startling thriller set amidst the Danish Resistance of the Second World War.

Europe in Darkness

1941. The Nazis have Denmark in their vice-like grip, their malign presence corroding everything its inhabitants hold dear. Even the police betray their countrymen and work with the Gestapo to hunt down spies.

A Glimmer of Hope

In this hostile climate the Danish resistance discover a secret that could change the course of the war – proof of an advanced German radar installation that is causing catastrophic losses to Allied planes bringing the fight to Germany.

A Dangerous Mission

The resistance must get the information to the British and will have only one chance, using a near-derelict Hornet Moth bi-plane mouldering away in a church. If they succeed the balance of the war will be tipped in the Allies’ favour but failure will see them killed...

Great

Love Ken Follet. Hornet Flight delivers like all of his books do. My first audio book. Narrator was great. I can't wait for the next one

Kazablanka

Reasonable story, although I see the allied WW2 bombing campaign agaist civilians as a war crime so I strugged to buy in to the central premise. But nicely told, with good pacing and well-developed characters. My two biggest disappointments were (i) how unrealistic it was that the main protagonist was always so lucky, and (ii) that the author didn't draw out the emotions of the British M16 girl about all the good people captured, tortured, killed or otherwise hurt because of her (in the same way that he dealt with the emotional turmoil of the pastor). Loved the Winston Churchill voice.

A ripping yarn

I really enjoyed the story, good plot, well narrated.
A bit far fetched at times, but it is a novel.

Follett weaves fiction into history fabulously.

Follett's knowledge of the details of the period is very impressive. He never disappoints. The story of Denmark during WW2 is not commonly told. This story is a great yarn with a page-turning intensity typical of Follett's work. I listened to this book after happily digesting the nearly 100 hours of listening in the 'Century Trilogy'. His character development is impressive and Nigel Carrington's narration was simply superb... looked for him as narrator of my very next book. This book: highly recommended in the war-story genre.

Gripping WW2 adventure.

well read, loved the story. I have listened a couple of times already. Better experience than reading the book.

exciting and hard to stop listening, as the story's characters and the twists suck the listener into a different world.

So so

An interesting storyline spoiled by sappy teenage romance. Otherwise ok but Ken Follett has written better.

Not really that great.

Unbelievable. Not in the same league as other Follet Novels. Not recommended, I am sorry to write.
