Publisher's Summary

Nearly all of us want to be more productive, but finding the method that works for you among the hundreds and hundreds of different tips, tricks and hacks can be a daunting prospect. After graduating college Chris Bailey decided to dedicate a whole year to doing just that - experimenting with as many of the techniques as he could and finding the things that work.

Among the experiments that he undertook are going several weeks on little to no sleep; cutting out caffeine and sugar; taking a daily siesta; living in total isolation for 10 days; stretching his workweek to 90 hours; and getting up at 5:30 every morning, all the while monitoring the impact of his experiments on the quality and quantity of his work. The results were often surprising!

This audiobook is the result of Chris' year-long journey, distilling the lessons he learned into a few core truths about how we get things done (or, indeed, don't). Among the many counterintuitive insights Chris discovered that had the biggest impact on his productivity were striving for imperfection, scheduling less time for important tasks, the 20 second rule to distract yourself from distractions, and the concept of productive procrastination.

In this accessible and fun guide, Chris Bailey offers over 30 tried and tested best practices that will help everyone to accomplish more - and become more awesome.

Easy to listen to, light-hearted and entertaining

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Chris recounts numerous productivity experiments. He then shares his personal insights and tips gleaned from them, and demonstrates how the knowledge can be easily applied into almost every aspect our our lives. The narration is light-hearted and highly expressive (almost conversational), making it highly enjoyable to listen to. His style of writing is also very concise and structured. He includes short summaries at the beginning of every chapter, and short activities at the end of most chapters, in order to reiterate and help his you get started on each productivity tip. Overall, I highly recommend the book due to its highly practical, structured and enjoyable characteristics.

Summarises/distills a lot of self help literature

It's straightforward, practical. doesn't focus too long on theory behind the tips. If you've been listening to a lot of self help, its nothing new, but it summarises and distills everything. One just needs to implement it all. Its read and written well in an easy to listen way. But its not boldly original. It's more derivative. it cites other authors who have specialised in their respective fields or went into more depth like researchers and scientists like Angela Duckworth. but he does an admirable job at being his own guinea pig and test subject to test and verify theories already out there.

My first audible download

My first audible download did not disappoint. I’m in half a mind to find the author’s contact details to thank him for such a well planned and executed book that seems to have been curated over a lifetime of curiosity on all things ‘productivity’. I would highly recommend to anyone having issues with concentration and/or with stress issues stemming from work overload. I’ve bought the hard copy separately after finishing the audio so I can hammer home the learnings. A+++++

A good coverage is productivity

A very good cross section of all aspects of productivity, not a lot new for a junky like me though. Will give it another listen though at some stage.
