Publisher's Summary

The ultimate running guide for women brought to life in audio by author Alexandra Heminsley.

Alexandra had high hopes: the arse of an athlete, the waist of a supermodel, the speed of a gazelle. Defeated by gyms and bored of yoga, she decided to run.

Her first attempt did not end well. Six years later, she has run five marathons in two continents. But, as her dad says, you run with your head as much as with your legs. So, while this is a book about running, it's not just about running. You could say it's about ambition (yes, getting out of bed on a rainy Sunday morning counts), relationships (including talking to the intimidating staff in the trainer shop), as well as your body (your boobs don't have to wobble when you run). But it's also about realising that you can do more than you ever thought possible.

Very funny, very honest, and very emotional, whether you're in serious training or thinking about running for the bus, this is a book for anyone who after wine and crisps for supper a few too many times thinks they might...just might...like to run like a girl.

Alexandra Heminsley is a freelance journalist and broadcaster and a dedicated runner.

Fun read

Loves listening to this book - whilst running! Easy to listen to, made me laugh, made me cry, kept my legs going one in front of the other. Will I run a marathon? Who knows, but Alexandra gives you plenty of reasons to really think about it.

Entertaining and a great resource for any runner

Thoroughly engaging and fun to listen to. Alexandra shares her story in a lighthearted and entertaining, sometimes emotional manner. I found myself, smiling, laughing, cheering and at times a with a tear in my eye. It's a wonderful book for anyone who loves to run, or wants to!

Great running book!

The author and narrator are very enjoyable to listen to. She has a ver dry wit that I quite enjoyed, she is very funny at times. A must read if you want to learn how to run and what it entails.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book

What did you like most about Running Like a Girl?

I am attempting to go from someone who doesnt run to someone who does and it was great listening to this whilst on my morning runs. Reassuring to know I am not alone in my struggles with finding suitable running gear and self doubt.

Like running with a friend

I listened to this book whilst working through the 0 to 5 k app and I really enjoyed it. It was inspiring and kept me motivated - how could I stop when she was running marathons and talking about the early women runners that weren't allowed to compete.
Great book and sad it has ended...now what am I going to listen to?!
