Take stock of your life: Based on your last 30 days of work (or marriage, or parenting), would your company rehire you? Would your partner immediately recommit to you? Would your children want you to continue to be their parent? The easy answer is, "Absolutely!" But it's probably not the honest answer. Your life might read like a success story, and your parents and friends might even think you have it all figured out, but you have a secret: You feel out of place in your own life. You'd rather binge-watch Netflix than think about what's next. You're living on autopilot.

An engaged, committed, caring therapist who is mindful of his or her own self - and how that self relates to the client - is the key determinant of how well that client will respond to therapy.

Publisher's Summary
A pioneer in the field of behavioral science delivers a groundbreaking work that shows how finding your purpose in life leads to better health and overall happiness.
Your life is a boat. You need a rudder. But it doesn't matter how much wind is in your sails if you're not steering toward a harbor - an ultimate purpose in your life.
While the greatest philosophers have pondered purpose for centuries, today it has been shown to have a concrete impact on our health. Recent studies into Alzheimer's, heart disease, stroke, depression, functional brain imaging, and measurement of DNA repair are shedding new light on how and why purpose benefits our lives.
Going beyond the fads, opinions, and false hopes of "expert" self-help books, Life on Purpose explores the incredible connection between purposeful living and the latest scientific evidence on quality of life and longevity. Drawing on ancient and modern philosophy, literature, psychology, evolutionary biology, genetics, and neuroscience as well as his experience in public health research, Dr. Vic Strecher reveals the elements necessary for a purposeful life and how to acquire them and outlines an elegant strategy for improving energy, willpower, and long-term happiness and well-being. He integrates these core themes into his own personal story - a tragedy that led him to reconsider his own life - and how a deeper understanding of purposeful living helped him not only to survive but to thrive.
Illuminating, accessible, and authentically grounded in real people's experiences, Life on Purpose is essential for everyone seeking lasting improvement in their lives.

I'm not one to review things (or write down life goals and purpose for that matter!) but I'll make an exception here- very inspiring and I can't recommend it enough. I feel that over time this may (and should) become the new 'man's search for meaning'- the earlier in life you can read these two books, the better.

Easy listen but nothing groundbreaking
I found this easy enough to listen to, all the advice is good and valid, but to me it was basically a summary of a whole lot of fairly generic good advice.
Didn't find anything particularly original or profound or new, which was disappointing.
For example - there's a whole chapter on diet, and while it is - again - good advice - it's nothing you wouldn't find in any "good health" magazine. And didn't even come across as particularly relevant to having a Life Purpose.
There are a few anecdotal stories about specific people with a purpose, but nothing particularly powerful.
Not a bad book at all, but don't read it expecting to find any great secrets or profound wisdom about Life Purpose, just some general good advice.

Great start but couldn't finish it
Really struggled to finish it, in the end I turned it off. The first few chapters were great and compelling, deeply touching personal story behind "why" this book. Then just over half-way through it turns into a book about transcendental meditation, yoga and I switched it off when the words "hive mind" were mentioned. Not at all the book described in the title or description.

Really struggled with narrator's delivery
The gist of this book is that having a self transcending purpose in life is the key to happiness. It suggests that diet, meditation exercise, etc, are key parts of the puzzle. some bits of the message resonated with me, but at other times, I felt I was being preached to.
I found the narrator's "in a world..." vocal style tiresome and annoying, which made getting through the book a bit of a chore. Maybe an interesting choice for a movie trailer or a 30 second commercial, but not really suited to an audio book.
