Publisher's Summary

You don't have to live overwhelmed by stuff - you can get rid of clutter for good! Decluttering expert Dana White identifies the emotional challenges that make it difficult to declutter and provides workable solutions to break through and make progress.

While the world seems to be in love with the idea of tiny houses and minimalism, many of us simply can't purge it all and start from nothing. Yet a home with too much stuff is difficult to maintain, so where do we begin? Add in paralyzing emotional attachments and constant life challenges, and it can feel almost impossible to make real decluttering progress.

In Decluttering at the Speed of Life, decluttering expert and author Dana White identifies the mindsets and emotional challenges that make it difficult to declutter. In her signature humorous approach, she provides workable solutions to break through these struggles and get clutter out - for good!

Not only does Dana provide strategies, but she dives deep into how to implement them, no matter the listener's clutter level or emotional resistance to decluttering. She helps identify procrasticlutter - the stuff that will get done eventually so it doesn't seem urgent - as well as how to make progress when there's no time to declutter.

In Decluttering at the Speed of Life, Dana’s chapters cover:

  • Why you need this book (You know why)
  • Your unique home
  • Decluttering in the midst of real life
  • Change your mind, change your home
  • Breaking through your decluttering delusions
  • Working it out room by room
  • Helping others declutter

As long as we're living and breathing, new clutter will appear. The good news is that by following Dana’s advice, decluttering will get easier, become more natural, and require significantly fewer hours, less emotional bandwidth, and little to no sweat to keep going.

Refreshingly different and highly practical

This book is different to the many other decluttering books I’ve read. It doesn’t just give tips and strategies, it gets into mindset too.

The author / narrator was excellent but sounded a bit snarky in the middle. Though in fairness she did say she might trigger some irritation!

I highly recommend this book to anyone whether starting out decluttering or more advanced. Any criticisms are minor and definitely do not outweigh the immense value I got out of the book. I’m reading it again!

Finally! Realistic and structured advice for overwhelmed Mums and caters

Are you sick of instagram curated minimalism experts banging on about the theory about how great it is to live with less? changing your mindset but not really breaking through paralysis and overwhelm with ACTUAL step by step actions. If you are a busy working Mum and general household slave who goes from one day to the next hoping to just to survive- this is your book.

Dana is SUPER BOSSY and will gently kick your time poor butt. She knows that you will be constantly be interrupted and tells you exactly how to declutter without making a bigger mess. She even called me out on 99.976% of my previous ‘organising’ mistakes!

A helpful way to work through the home

You can listen and do at the same time. The author herself read the book aloud and does a fantastic job at engaging her audience and getting us to hold on to the most important take-aways of the book. Though a tad repetitive, it was helpful and great to motivate me to action. Thanks Dana.

Do you have too much stuff and no time to declutter?

If you have too much stuff and no time to declutter you are going to love this book (audio version)
I love Dana's friendly style and her understanding of the reality of a busy life.
I listen to her audio book in the car, section by section throughout my busy week (when I am on my own) and every time I find a useful idea to action straight away. My home is getting easier to manage even though I am getting busier. I run a charity that is growing. This means I can make a bigger difference in the lives of more disadvantaged kids here in Australia without my own home becoming out of control.

life changing!

this book has enabled me to start and continue with EASE the decluttering of my home of eighteen years!
the amount of things I've given away /sold/let go of thousands of things that I THOUGHT I needed, but they in fact were DROWNING my family and I.

I have listened to twice, and no my third listen 😂 , through this book I've managed to not only change my concept of my NEEDS but has positively changed the atmosphere in my home.

I eagerly await my next adventure of living in a house bus taking only treasured and needed items instead of needing two buses to contain my things I THOUGHT I couldn't live without! .

thank you, thank you thank you Dana, you've changed my life with this book. blessings to you always 💞 . (Angel NZ)

Best decluttering advice yet!

I've read and listened and watched so many decluttering ideas and processes and none of them have ever worked successfully. This book is straightforward, interesting, a little funny and actually takes into account our daily life and inability to declutter a whole room in one sitting. Love it and highly recommend it!
