Publisher's Summary

What are little boys made of? It used to be frogs, snails, and puppy dog tails, but today it is MTV, ADD, and STDs. So how do parents raise their sons to be respectful and responsible young men in a toxic culture that relentlessly undermines masculine virtues such as moral strength, self-restraint, and respect for women? By letting boys be boys.

Dr. Meg Meeker, best-selling author of Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters, follows up on her success with Boys Should Be Boys, a guide for parents on how to raise a strong son in these turbulent times. Taking listeners on a journey from boyhood to manhood, Boys Should be Boys delves into the mind, heart, and spirit of boys, showing parents how they can make a difference between the boy their son is and the man he will become.

Generally good but some bad advice

Most of the advice here was good but there was a terrible example of using force to threaten a son into submission when he talked back to his mother (pinning him against a wall). I think if he’s talking back to his mother you’ve already exposed said son to the wrong influences (such as media or dysfunctional communication at school), and are also likely modelled the wrong behaviour of talking back yourself. I otherwise generally good.

Great listening

I started reading the book but found it informative but to big a read to get through.

Downloaded the audible version and enjoyed it immensely and learnt quite a bit about being an effective and good father.

Great listening.
