Publisher's Summary

Galaxy's Edge contains Legionnaire through to the end of Galactic Outlaws.

On the edge of the galaxy, a diplomatic mission to an alien planet takes a turn when the Legionnaires, an elite special fighting force, find themselves ambushed and stranded behind enemy lines. They struggle to survive under siege, waiting on a rescue that might never come.

In the seedy starport of Ackabar, a young girl searches the crime-ridden gutters to avenge her father's murder; not far away, a double-dealing legionniare-turned-smuggler hunts an epic payday; and somewhere along the outer galaxy, a mysterious bounty hunter lies in wait.

Galaxy's Edge combines sleek starfighters, exotic aliens, loyal bots, blasters, scoundrels, heroes, and powerful enemies in a thrilling adventure that will take you back to that magic place from a long time ago.

Star Wars Meets Halo!

Enough said! Characters and their interactions with story hooks has a very Star Wars feel. Throw in a little elite armor guys in battle is like Halo. Love this!

Thumbs up, fresh setting

This thing absolutely KICKS OFF after the first act. Magnificent space western stuff. Sequel baiting.

Great! Amazing narrator - dark wonderful adventure. Pure escapism. I want more of this kind of story.

An unashamed knock off

The author has knitted a story of scenes from existing SciFi without adding any originality. Gave up listening half way through.

Ok, but got annoying at times.

The story and action were decent and RC Bray excellent as usual but the constant SW nods got old fast. I mean, the main bad guy is Goth Sullust...why not just call the veteran bounty hunter (because of course there's a veteran bounty hunter) "Foba Bett"??

No plot, no characters, lots of explos... "BANG!"s

I decided to take a chance on this book based on other readers' reviews comparing this author to David Weber. I endured almost 5 hours of the audio book before concluding that the "characters" (caricatures would be more accurate) and "plot" (hah!) had received all the attention they'd ever get in the opening paragraph.
RC Bray turns in a workmanlike narration based on very thin material - he deserves congratulations for not getting fits of the giggles every time he had to describe intense gunplay onomatopoeiatically.
Fortunately Audible have a 'return your book for full refund' policy, so I haven't wasted money on this drivel - only 4h52m of my life and about 300Mb of data.
Audible won't let me give a zero-star rating, so: one star overall, with four stars to RC Bray.

Just a little confusing...

The ending of Galactic Outlaws had me scratching my head a little; like I'd missed half a dozen chapters filling in back story or even the timeline.

The first part on Kublar was awesome. Total thriller...

Interesting and intrinsic story

The first novel in this bundle really spoke to me from its perspective of a small sliver of a story in a vast galaxy of other stories, where this small story was important to the whole but seperate from everything happening beyond the scope we were presented.
The characters were rich and their perspectives clear and easy to follow, and overall I found it easy to empathise with the main characters against the corrupt bureaucracy that governs them, which was slanted for demise.
I finished book one really looking forward to where book two might go.

The second book, unfortunately, just didn't grasp me. I'll admit, due to my habits listening to audiobooks whilst working I was somewhat zoned out during the opening sequences and missed some, but throughout the rest of the story it failed to grab me and I found the novel to be dragging on and searching for purpose.
Fortunately, that purpose finally arrived in the closing chapters, and I enjoyed those, but that didn't feel like it redeemed the rest of the novel.

First book: 8/10
Second book: 5.5/10

All of well written and very well presented though.

Remember when the star war filled with starship troopers was on the firefly class

As the title of my review suggests the aurhors lend a great deal from these stories making an enjoyable book and I would recommend listening if you like any three of the aforementioned titles the only negatives is the fact that lending ideas from said titles makes small moments of “wow they really just did that?” Quite common that slightly distracts from the story

Other than that a vivid imagination and narrative gives this a charming feel that doesn’t dissatisfy

Looking forward to the next instalment

derivative, poorly written

The first half was ok, very cliched military sci-fi. The second half turned into bad star wars fan fiction. Truly mind boggling how fiction this bad can get published.
