My name is Hope Arden. I am the girl the world forgets.

It started when I was 16 years old.

A father forgetting to drive me to school. A mother setting the table for three, not four. A friend who looks at me and sees a stranger.

No matter what I do, the words I say, the crimes I commit - you will never remember who I am.

That makes my life tricky. It also makes me dangerous....

The Sudden Appearance of Hope is the tale of a girl no one remembers, yet her story will stay with you for ever.

Typically original

Original story, well read, and as would now be expected from Claire North, well written.

Interesting premise but struggled to finish

There are some interesting and original as well as disturbing ideas but it tended to drag on in places and never seemed to end

Special but not for everyone

What a fantastic story, not what I expected. Listened on my hour drives home. Loved the narration and all the different accents. The story does feel like it goes wondering off at times but it all comes together and makes sense at the end. If you have time and patience then it’s worth a listen. Hey Macarena!

Returned this book

I found this so hard to get into, not least because of some glaring factual inaccuracies about one of the countries the main character was in. The plot jumps around and the characters are not engaging. I do not normally give up on a book and am a prolific reader but I couldn’t continue with this. I don’t think the narration also worked for me, her voice was ok but the flipping between accents grated.

Bad :(

Sadly, this was the worst book I've read so far in my honest opinion. I was hoping it would be as good as the description sounded. Very disappointed and I couldn't even try to finish it. I found the storyline absolutely ridiculous and didn't like the voices.
