Critic Reviews

"With an exquisite finesse, Laurens manipulates the sexual tension between her dark, dangerous hero and her clever heroine into sensually charged love scenes, and the book's swashbuckling climax, worthy of Dumas, should please readers who like a bit of adventure along with a passionate love story." Fast forward the Sex Scenes for a light read

This lady writes a great light story but gosh she is fond of her sex scenes (there are entire chapters dedicated to them)-she really had thought them out - Im not too prudish but I do fast forward through them and enjoy the rest of her story telling - Im working my through in sequence.

Great story

Intriguing great to have the prequel insight. Narration was a little animated at times. Recommend to others

Interesting background to the Cynster family.

Set in the generation before the Bar Cynster this story sets up the family antecedents. This is the story of Sebastian, fifth Duke of St. Ives and French Countess Helena. Simon Prebble reads with his characteristic liveliness and brings the power struggle between members of two old and wealthy families to a gripping realization. It is a story of duplicity and secrecy that twists and turns holding the audience in suspense to the end. An enjoyable listen.

So boring

No real story line, just one long drawn out boring seduction. Much rather listen to / read Mary Kingswood. At least she had story lines
