Clean Werewolf Love Story, Vampires Included
This is a cute story about shifters and Vampires.
The story jumps right in without much character or world building. We do learn a lot about the main characters throughout the story. We also learn some things about the pack and their relationship with the vampires. I would have liked to have a more complete understanding of the world and the rules, but there was enough to understand the story.
The suspense in the story is interesting and gives the plot some complexity. I was a bit surprised at some of the outcomes of the interactions with the villains. It was not the usual faire. The villain's motives were understandable, but the reactions of the good guys was not what I expected. I found myself wanting to know more of the history and why some of the characters reacted the way they did. For example, when you have a vampire villain (bad guy) and a vampire enforcer (good guy), why isn't the vampire enforcer leading the charge against the villain?
I liked the twist at the end of the story. I am sure it sets up the beginning of the next story. I look forward to reading that one.
The narration was okay. At times, especially in the second half of the book, it was good. At the beginning of the book, however, it was stilted, especially when narrating Darcy's voice. Having the narration smoother at the beginning of the story would, I believe, have made the story flow more smoothly.
Personally, there was an awful lot of making out for a book with no sex. If this was a book about teenagers, I would understand that. Given that this was a book about adults waiting for their mating ceremony, I would have expected them to keep their distance more to avoid temptation, since they were waiting for the ceremony. Also, the making out took away from the story at times. The playing and running together was great and added to the story, but a lot of the making out did not.
I liked the overall dynamic between the main characters. Darcy was strong enough to be a complement to an alpha without going overboard. Mason was a strong, dominant alpha. I enjoyed seeing him trust Darcy enough to open up to her and let her help him when he was troubled.
Overall, I enjoyed reading the story and would recommend it if you like the genre.
Thanks Belinda for giving me the chance to listen to this story.

Overall good werewolf story
Would you consider the audio edition of The Mystic Wolves to be better than the print version?
I do not have the print version of this but I always think audio gives more depth to the books. This is a werewolf story though it is also a romance tale at its heart. This is a bit different in that it deals with a peaceful coexistence of vampire and wolf pack that are quite friendly. Of course there is a problem coming from somewhere and I will not spoil the book by divulging it. Good narration and plot come together for a quick and interesting story. I will say that the very end has two points that need to be brought to your attention: a major question through the story gets a bit of an answer and the book ends with a MAJOR CLIFFHANGER.
Any additional comments?
