Thirteen-year-old Lisa escapes from Nazi Germany on the Kindertransport and arrives in England in August 1939. She can't speak a word of English, and among her meagre belongings is one precious photograph of her family. But when the Blitz blows her new home apart, she wakes up in hospital with no memory of who she is.

The authorities give her a new name and despatch her to a children's home. With the war in full swing, what will become of Lisa now?

A fascinating exploration of how war affects, those left behind

This Story explores in detail the experiences of the civilian population of London during the War.The reader begins the journey from Germany to England through the eyes of a young girl as anti Judaism rises..There is compassion but there is also the wide gamut of human nature, good & bad! The growth of the young girl into an adult, mirrors change, just asLondon & surrounds are transformed .A very compelling novel well performed.

A really wonderful story filled with great characters as it twists and turns and delivers insight into the lives of people during WWII.
The performance of Bea Holland for each character was infallible and highly entertaining.

Great voice, interesting story

The voices in this were nicely done, I've enjoyed the book very much. Good story, all the ends were neatly tucked in. The good guys triumph and the baddie is banished, what more could you want?

great book loved the book

Just finish the girl with no name. It's about a German girl that was evacuated to London in the second world war. And how she over come some people hating her because she was German. She went through a lot of up and down. This book will make you cry laugh and smile with happiness. 5 star from me.

Beautiful story of displaced persons and their journey through the terror of war.

There were many junctions in Lisa’s story. She was lost and found many times. Surges of hope, then huge disappointment as people she came to trust and love fazed in and out of her life.,The constant bombardment of the London blitz and the humiliation of being a German alien only served to make her determined to to endure all this hostility and then there were many who loved and helped her so she didn’t lose hope and became better not bitter. I’d say this is a literary triumph!
Well done Diney :)
