Publisher's Summary

It began in a women's club in London on a February afternoon. A discreet advertisement in The Times, addressed to "Those who Appreciate Wistaria and Sunshine..." lures four very different women away from the dismal British weather to San Salvatore, a castle high above a bay on the sunny Italian Riviera. There, the Mediterranean spirit stirs the souls of Mrs Arbuthnot, Mrs Wilkins, Lady Caroline Dester, and Mrs Fisher, and remarkable changes occur.

Always Loved the Movie

A delightful reading of a delightful book. I always loved the movie. It is a perfect performance of this delightful book. Hearing their thoughts and feeling their emotions makes it such a rich read.

It's an ok story

I liked Lotte's positive character. However it's not the location that created the 'love' everywhere it's the fact that people were away from their own home life distractions and were able to actually focus on their own loved ones without distraction. Lotte was the driving force in assisting people to alter their perceptions in a positive more loving direction. Frederick is a dishonest man and doesn't deserve Rose. I didn't like that Rose had been fooled by him. It seems that she will have to relinquish her beliefs about his books in order for them to remain together.

A Charming Listen

This was a free listen on Audible which is good - as it’s unlikely I would have come across a 100 year old novel and wanted to listen to it. Anyway, it’s charming and delightful, is all I can say!

It finished too soon!

I loved this story and each of the characters as they unfolded and developed. In a wonderfully setting. I want to visit this castle and I want to follow these friendships once they return to London. I loved it.

A magical story set in Italy

Delicious - I couldn’t stop listening and following the four main characters as they developed and grew. Loved the reader too. I loved the escape.

Enjoyable listen

A fascinating character study, full of witty, wry observations about human behaviour and relationships, and also a window into a different time. Expressively narrated.
