Publisher's Summary

The first standalone novel in The Pucked Series

With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn't interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet's misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match. Suffering from a complete lapse in judgment, Violet discovers just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants.

Violet believes her night of orgasmic magic with Alex is just that: one night. But Alex starts to call. And text. And email and send extravagant - and quirky - gifts. Suddenly he's too difficult to ignore and nearly impossible not to like. The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn't want to be part of the game.

Compelling, hilarious, laugh out loud masterpiece.

Do you love rom coms? Sporting romances?

At first, I was dubious since I love hockey and this was about a hockey romance but damn did Helena pull it off brilliantly.

We meet Violet, an independent and sassy woman. From the first page you fall in love with her, she's absolutely hilarious with all of her shenanigans.

Violet meets captain of her brother's hockey team, Alex. A man with a reputation, one he is happy to have for the sake of his career but one he wants to hide from Violet. He's completely enraptured by her.

He's never met anyone like her but...when you're a superstar hockey player, any kind of relationship is going to have its ups and downs.

Will Alex and Violet make it work?

Compelling, hilarious, laugh out loud masterpiece.

the guy kind of sounds heartless & emotionless, and a bit rushed. the Female voice amazing.
lots of laugh out loud moments too. the best book I've listened to in a very long time.

Wickedly Funny

I loved this story. It was the first book by Helena Hunting that I've ever read and it was brilliant. I loved the Violet and Alex and I loved the female narration of Violet. The only downside, when it was Alex's POV, I wish they had got the female narrator to voice her lines rather than the actor playing Alex, and visa versa. But overall, a great book and highly recommend.

Great female narrator, terrible male narrator

An entertaining story that would have improved if they had just stuck with the female narrator, who perfectly portrayed guys & gals. The make narrator’s accent was bizarre (definitely not Canadian, & had a nasal, teenage quality)

Male narrator was a let down

The female narrator was good, however the male narrator had an Irish accent and didn’t fit the bill for the hot-as-hell Canadian.
I read the book and enjoyed it, but couldn’t listen to the audio book.

love love

Violet and her over sharing, nonchalant and just somewhat blasé look at things about dating an ice hockey player again is the best thing, but of course life intervening in the form of Alex and his nerdy-jock ways had my wires crossed the best way. They fumbled through the romance, being on the spot light dynamics and if that locker room sex doesn't thaw the heart don't know what it, plus Alex's dick graduates from being called a 'sniffie' to 'monster cock' who stars in dreams wearing a cape with a moustache.
Violet's playfulness just makes every dork out there proud. own it.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It was a fun little quick read with emotional connection as well as sexual tension.

Great story. Not great male narration.

I really loved the story but the audible version was marred for me by the male narrator. The accents were terrible (half the time he sounded Scottish not Canadian) and the voice was high pitched. The female narrator was excellent and even her performance of the male voice was better than the actual male narrator.

Enjoyable

Story was enjoyable. I wasnt a huge fan of the Canadian (sounded Irish) accent that the narrator used for Alex. However looking foward to the next book in the series.
