A completely gripping page turner...
A thrilling listen, very hard to stay away from. Clare Mackintosh has created a real masterpiece with twists and turns and real depth of subject matter. Both narrators are also excellent. Treat yourself to a book that will carry you away and allow you to experience the whole gamut of emotions...

Didn't see that coming!!
Bit of a slow start, and not the best of endings. But overall a great read. A big twist in the story half way, so bare with it.
Look forward to reading more from Claire.

Enthralling story
This was a most enjoyable story. The narrators were both excellent and the story has very interesting and unexpected twists and turns that keep you listening for more. An "unputdownable" book to listen to. Highly recommended for those who like great character development from a psychological perspective. Clare Mackintosh captures the nuances of human nature so well, warts and all. Loved it.

Great in every way.
The narrators got right into the characters so there was never any doubt as to who was speaking. The characters were real and the story moved ahead at a good rate

Read it!
The simple blurb doesn’t do this book justice but I am grateful it didn’t. So much depth to this story it keeps you enthralled to the end.

Not quite what the synopsis leads you to believe
After a few twists the story turns out to be a very detailed and disturbing account of domestic violence. No warning given .... please be warned

The narrators are AMAZING
Any additional comments?
Personally, I did not love the storyline as much as a lot of other people did, even though it did have a few major twists (the twist at the end of part one was the only one that left me amazed and awed).
The domestic violence description in this book was just so vivid, thanks to the amazing narrators, I genuinely felt horrified for the character and had to look over my shoulder when I was listening to it in the middle of the night.
Just be aware the domestic violence part can cause discomfort, and I almost give it up in the middle because of it.
