Publisher's Summary

A Richard and Judy Summer Read Selection. What to do if Matthew, your secret lover of the past four years, finally decides to leave his wife and move in, just when you're thinking that you might not want him anymore?
Plan A: stop shaving your armpits; tell him you have a moustache that you wax every six weeks; stop having sex with him; pick holes in the way he dresses; don't brush your teeth, or your hair.
Plan B: accidentally on purpose, bump into his wife; give yourself a fake name and identity; befriend her; actually begin to really like her; buy a cat and give it a fake name and identity; befriend Matthew's children. Watch your whole plan go absolutely, horribly wrong.

Good British Chick Lit

I hate the term "chick lit" but I couldn't think of another way to describe it - maybe "comedy for women". Anyway, I really enjoyed this one. I thought it was very funny, well written, and had an interesting plot. If you like Marian Keyes or Sophie Kinsella I would say give this one a try. The narration seemed a little fast at first but either she slowed down or I got used to it. Overall, great easy listen!

Light and Entertaining

This is fun Brit-chick-lit: single London career gal approaching her sell-by date, trapped in job and affair with no bright hopes represented in either. It's got a neat, twisty plot that's not entirely predictable, nor too far-fetched. The characters are varied and fairly well fleshed out. Lots of "down with creepy men" vindictiveness, but pretty fair-minded, too. Aww, give it a go!

Great Storyline - Narration Unbelievably Good

Great Storyline - Narration Unbelievably Good. Sort of chick-lit romance, that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Never known a narrator to make such a big contribution to the drawing of the characters.

Laugh out loud

My only disappointment with this book was that the author has not written any others at this point in time. Much has been said about Helen's langauge in the other reviews - it didn't bother me and I found it quite realistic. If you really don't like modern parlance I recommend Jane Austen. I just wish I had delivered Helen's parting words when I recently left a job. Funny from beginning to end and certainly never boring. I hope to hear more from this author.
