The Sound and the Fury is the tragedy of the Compson family, featuring some of the most memorable characters in literature: beautiful, rebellious Caddy; the manchild Benjy; haunted, neurotic Quentin; Jason, the brutal cynic; and Dilsey, their black servant. The boys are a tight-knit crew. There’s Kent, one of the most popular kids in school; Ephraim and Max, also well-liked and easygoing; then there’s Newt the nerd and Shelley the odd duck. For the most part, they all get along and are happy to be there - which makes Scoutmaster Tim’s job a little easier.

In a word, depravity.
Alot of prose in this gem, depicting depravity at its worst. If it had the terrifying captivation of "the road" it would have taken it to new depths. Still, highly recommended for those that need a jolt and aren't too squeamish. Prepare to be desensitized.
