Story
Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Story
It once seemed so easy to Prince Rhen, the heir to Emberfall. Cursed by a powerful enchantress to repeat the autumn of his 18th year over and over, he knew he could be saved if a girl fell for him. But that was before he learned that at the end of each autumn, he would turn into a vicious beast hell-bent on destruction. That was before he destroyed his castle, his family, and every last shred of hope.

Unnecessary to read if u read finally book broken throne
This book was a great book although it is unnecessary to read if u intend to read the finale book in the red queen series. Please don’t do what I did and read all 5 books in the series and think this is going to go into more detail about Corian And Diana stories in the broken throne novel because it does not. They are the exact same.

Essential for Red Queen fans.
I loved these stories. Both stories would require some background so it is best they are read after reading at least the second book in the series. But both are very enjoyable journeys.
The stand out by far is the first. The story of Queen Coriane Jacos (Cal's mother). Moving and heartbreaking. Beautifully read by the Narrator. Haunting. Just haunting!
