Publisher's Summary
John Grisham's newest legal thriller takes you inside a law firm that shouldn't exist.
Law students Mark, Todd and Zola wanted to change the world - to make it a better place. But these days these three disillusioned friends spend a lot of time hanging out in The Rooster Bar, the place where Todd serves drinks. As third-year students, they realise they have been duped. They all borrowed heavily to attend a law school so mediocre that its graduates rarely pass the bar exam, let alone get good jobs. And when they learn that their school is one of a chain owned by a shady New York hedge-fund operator who also happens to own a bank specialising in student loans, the three realise they have been caught up in The Great Law School Scam.So they begin plotting a way out. Maybe there's a way to escape their crushing debt, expose the bank and the scam, and make a few bucks in the process. But to do so, they have to leave law school, pretend they are qualified and go into battle with a billionaire and the FBI....
Ingenious, immersive and page-turning, The Rooster Bar is a John Grisham legal thriller bar none.

Most disappointing
I never got into this book and was most disappointed. I stuck it out till the end but it was a real effort.
I had no empathy with the 3 lead characters and the 3 were all so shallow and indeed, criminals.
I found the narrator quite flat and boring.
I might pass up on John Grisham in future despite the fact I enjoyed many of his earlier books. One of the less riveting books I have suffered through.

Long-winded
I feel the synopsis for this book is misleading. It sounds like we are going to go headlong into this law school scam conspiracy... but the bulk of the book barely touches on it! Very disappointing and juvenile attempt with this book from a past stellar author. Narrator is good, story is dull.

At last an Audible book worth the listen
An engrossing story well told by a master of the legal world where it's difficult to tell who the real criminals are.

Not a fan.
I like the idea of the plot but don't feel like it was done quite right. The characters were hard to root for despite that being the intention of the story....I think.
My first story from this author and unfortunately I don't think I'll try another.

Disappointing
Have enjoyed many of Grisham’s books on audible in the past, but found this quite disappointing. Main characters lacked any redeeming features, the story line a bit unbelievable and ending far fetched. Narrator tried hard with limited material. Persisted to the finish in the hope that it would improve, but I just felt deflated and flat. Will give Grisham a rest for a while.

Very enjoyable read
The characters and what they’re experiencing was captured so well. You really felt their struggles to get on with life with this huge burden on their backs. Not far from the truth sometimes.
