Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

March 1997. A woman has her throat cut behind a bar in Mississippi.

Just down the road is a big army base. Is the murderer a local guy - or is he a soldier?

Jack Reacher, still a major in the military police, is sent in undercover.

The county sheriff is a former U.S. Marine - and a stunningly beautiful woman. Her investigation is going nowhere. Is the Pentagon stonewalling her? Or is she trying not to find the killer?

Set just six months before the opening of Killing Floor, The Affair marks a turning point in Reacher's career.

If he does what the army wants, will he be able to live with himself? And if he doesn't, will the army be able to live with him?

Although the Jack Reacher novels can be listened to in any order, The Affair is 16th in the series.

Love Jack Reacher, the book, not Tom Cruise!

I'll be listening to all the Jack Reacher books, the narrator is awesome, the stories are great. Time for more Jack Reacher!!

Good, then awkward, then too long

This was a good book, but it probably could have had about 2 hours cut off it. Also, given the narrator sounds like a 50+ year old man, it was awkward when it got to a sex scene and this old bloke is saying "long and slow, long and slow, looonnggg aannddd ssslllloooowwww...".

GREAT LEAD UP

I love Reacher stories that are retrospective, and look at his cases during his service years. This one is a fabulous lead up to The Killing Floor, and explains why he ended up opting out. I loved how it bought Neagly and Dixon into it, and even his brother and Margate. Typical Reacher style and justice that true fans have come to love. Fabulous story. Totally recommend.

Not the readers fault but…..

Really annoyed by the constant “ I said” “She said” in the conversations between Reacher and Devereux and other characters when totally unnecessary

Good to know where it started

I originally passed this one up not wanting to go back in time. I’m glad I went back to it.
It’s a good yarn and we’ll worth it.
