Publisher's Summary

Harry Bosch finds himself yet again in charge of a case that no one else will touch. This time his job is to nail the killer of hot shot black lawyer Howard Elias. Elias has been found murdered on the eve of going to court on behalf of Michael Harris, a man the LAPD believes guilty of the rape and murder of a twelve-year-old girl.

Elias had let it be known that the aim of his civil case was not only to reveal the real killer but to target and bring down the racist cops who beat up his client during a violent interrogation. Now it's all down to Bosch - and he's got to take a long, hard look at some of his colleagues in a police department that is rife with suspicion and hatred.

Bosh sounded like Batman.

if I wasn't a fan of this series, I would of quite the book early. i just could not get a grip on why Bosh sounded like Batman.
Certainly not my favorite. Story was ok. The narration was the downfall for me.

Narrator was dull

I couldn’t enjoy the book as much as the others as the narrators voice was dull. 🙁

Why switch narrators

Having grown accustom to Harry's voice over the last 5 or so books it seems a pity to change narrators. Great story though so worth persevering regardless

Another great Bosch story, sadly ruined by narration

12 hours and 51 minutes is too long to listen to a b-grade action movie trailer. What were they thinking with this narrator? If you can handle listening to through this awful performance then you’ll find a good Bosch story beneath. I could do it. Onto the next one.

Wrong Narrator

Why change narrators after five novels?! Edgar sounds like a completely different character. Such a shame.

Series

I like that this is a series of books and that I can keep listening to all the different stories without having to wait for the next book

Best

Great story. Great writing. Great characterisation & depth in social setting. The twists that came were well thought out.

Hard to listen to

I can’t imagine narrating a book is easy and so it is not for everyone.
Unfortunately this is not a suitable job for this narrator.
Very hard to listen to. Almost every sentence has an upward inflection at the end. He reads every sentence like it is an action film trailer.
It makes the story hard to follow and the tone is wooden.
Disappointed with this one.
