Austen’s heroine Elizabeth Bennet deals with the issues of manners, upbringing, morality, education, and marriage in the society of the landed gentry of early 19th-century England. Austen at her wittiest.

Emma Messenger's accent
My first audio book purchase and a disappointment, basically in the very poor performance by Emma Messenger. An over strained attempt at an English accent peppered by deep souther American drawl ruining the moment. If only she would either read it all in an American accent or correct all the dropped 't' as in 'inimitably' read as 'iniminably'. A well loved story spoiled by a lazy reading.

I added this to my library last year and only just got around to listening to it.... what a total shock it was. Why oh why do americans try to do the english narration. If you can't pronounce words correctly then why take on something so English as the work of Jane Austen? Seriously? This is painful. Then there is the totally RAISED decibels of Mrs Bennet that made this unbearable to listen to.
I am deleting this from my library as it is too horrible to listen to.
Fantastic story totally ruined by the narrator
Please stop Americans from trying to do English books
