Story
After losing her parents, young Mary Lennox is sent from India to live in her uncle's gloomy mansion on the wild English moors. She is lonely and has no-one to play with, but one day she learns of a secret garden somewhere in the grounds that no one is allowed to enter. Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Story
Andy and Terry have a new book to write, but there's a problem. A BIG problem. Well, quite a few big problems actually.... On a hill not too far away there is a tree. And in that tree there is a tree house. And in that tree house there is a bowling alley, a see-through swimming pool, a tank full of sharks, a giant rope swing, a library full of comics, a secret underground laboratory, a vegetable vaporiser and a free marshmallow-dispensing machine.

Publisher's Summary
The story of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III rise to fame, through his dragon-training exploits, told in Hiccup's own words by David Tennant.
Hiccup was a truly extraordinary Viking Hero, Warrior chieftain, awesome sword-fighter and amateur naturalist. He was known throughout Vikingdom as 'the Dragon Whisperer' on account of his power over these terrifying beasts. But it wasn't always like that....

Long live dragons!
A delightful fantasy aimed at children but a pleasure for even an aged adult such as myself. David Tennant's reading is spot on and his singing an added joy!

Different
Having loved the movies by the same title I was a bit surprised and a little disappointed how different the two are. But David Tennant's amazing performance made up for my reservations. If I hadn't see the movie first I probably would have enjoyed it a bit more, I will try others in the series. A different but great story - not 5 stars but close.

Great children’s adventure story wonderfully perfo
A great children’s adventure story wonderfully performed. My six-year-old boy has become completely hooked with this series to such an extent I have heard him saying “Oh for Thor’s sake” when frustrated with his little brother. David Tennant has given a masterful performance. The writing is not as strong as other children’s series such as “Harry Potter” so an adult may not enjoy this as much but probably more age appropriate for 6-10 year old’s. Overall a good introduction to the fantasy genre

Kids and adults will enjoy it equally.
I bought this book to listen to in the car on a long trip. Both the kids and myself enjoyed it, well I may have enjoyed it more than the kids. The story is quite different to the movies, it is helpful to know that and to explain it to the kids to avoid confusion. Aside from that it was fun, David Tennant read it brilliantly and it kept us all entertained on a long road trip.

Great story, volume was variable.
This was a great book to listen to with the kids in the car however the volume diference between the quieter characters and the more boisterous ones made it difficult to hear some sections while others remained too loud.
I like this sorry better than the movie version.
