Publisher's Summary

To those who matter in 1950s Hollywood, Lena Scott is the hottest rising star to hit the silver screen since Marilyn Monroe. Few know her real name is Abra. Even fewer know the price she' s paid to finally feel like she' s somebody. To Pastor Ezekiel Freeman, Abra will always be the little girl who stole his heart the night he found her, a wailing newborn abandoned under a bridge on the outskirts of Haven.

Zeke and his son, Joshua - Abra' s closest friend - watch her grow into an exotic beauty. But Zeke knows the circumstances surrounding her birth etched scars deep in her heart, scars that leave her vulnerable to a fast-talking bad boy who proclaims his love and lures her to Tinseltown. Hollywood feels like a million miles from Haven, and naive Abra quickly learns what' s expected of an ambitious girl with stars in her eyes.

But fame comes at an awful price. She has burned every bridge to get exactly what she thought she wanted. Now, all she wants is a way back home. In this riveting and highly anticipated tale of temptation, grace, and unconditional love, New York Times best-selling author Francine Rivers delivers big-canvas storytelling at its very best.

Tear jerking.

Do not be swayed by other people's review or comments about the hotel/bed scenes. The love scenes were thoughtfully written. Nothing malicious at all. Francine had done it again. I was crying towards the end. I honestly didn't want this book to end.

Well worth it.

I've loved other books by this writer based on bible stories. This was different. When things went from bad to worse to worse for the main character, I felt all hope lost. I was sad and wondered if it was ever going to change. Admittedly I did choose to listen to a little of the end to find out if it did get better. I was relieved and pleased to find Hope was restored. The story does show how arrogance, independence and hurt can fuel a life looking for hope only to discover, that motivation does not lead us to hope and salvation but more of the same. It can be a hard lesson. When the lesson is learnt though, joy brings in a new day.

Memorial story

Francine Rivers has written a very touching story of hope when there seems to be no hope. How the Grace of God reaches out to us in his love .I had a few late nights or should I say early mornings as I kept on listening as I was so caught up in the story .Beautiful story and Kate Forbes sensitive narration enhanced the story

God's unconditional love

As His children we can run & hide but He is always with us. Enjoyable listening - a bit of drama, rebelliousness, sadness, romance - but mostly revealing the power of prayer & forgiveness.
