Publisher's Summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts presents the first novel in a compelling trilogy about three brothers bound by fate, blood, and a timeless enemy.

In the town of Hawkins Hollow, it’s called The Seven. Every seven years, on the seventh day of the seventh month, strange things happen. It began when three young boys - Caleb, Fox, and Gage - went on a camping trip to The Pagan Stone...

It is only February, but Caleb Hawkins - descendant of the town founders - has already seen and felt the stirrings of evil. Though he can never forget the beginning of the terror in the woods twenty-one years ago, the signs have never been this strong before. Cal will need the help of his best friends Fox and Gage, but surprisingly he must rely on a stranger as well.

Reporter Quinn Black came to Hawkins Hollow hoping to make its eerie happenings the subject of her new book. She too can see the evil the locals cannot, somehow connecting her to the town - and to Cal. As winter turns to spring, they will shed their inhibitions, surrendering to a desire that will grow and form the cornerstone of a group of men and women bound by the fight against what is to come from out of the darkness…

So many similarities to other series.

I do enjoy rereading and now listening to this trilogy, with its very likeable and entertaining characters and very interesting storyline.
Read quite a few times as I enjoy these characters and the story itself.
So many similarities between these characters and those in Key trilogy though.
Blonde leading heroine and the silly dog in book one plus other things that come out as one reads.
A major plot point in book two, which I really dislike and cannot agree with, which is not thought out for the long term future of any children involved, loses one star.

AUDIBLE 23
Apart from the observations included in this review, I enjoyed listening to this series but found the narration just off with the female voices. Not the narrator’s fault as he has to do THREE main female voices and make them differentiate from each other.
So many similarities between these characters and those in the Key trilogy.
Lots of the same style of scenes and descriptions by this author.
Pretty much the same words and actions and the same way of stating things. Even having the blonde heroine and the silly dog. The lead heroine stating she is in love with the hero very quickly was just like Mallory does in the Key series.
The sex scenes were very reminiscent of Eve Dallas and Roarke having sex in the In Death series.
BOOK REVIEW
Most recently read in the box set. I do enjoy rereading this trilogy with its very likeable and entertaining characters and very interesting storyline.
Read quite a few times as I enjoy these characters and the story itself. Reviewed years ago but reviews are missing.
Three boys from different families and backgrounds but born on the same day at the same time, whilst out camping, make a blood oath and unleash a demon.
This is all meant to be and the whys are explained as this story unfolds. More specifically in book three when everything is bought to a conclusion.
To bring everything to a nice balance, we get three intelligent women thrown into the mix and the reasons they are included were very intriguing. They of course pair up with the three men.
I can tell you about this book but you will want to read all three to understand the story and its complexities anyway.

Enjoyable

Great start to the trilogy and the story got you in so that you had to listen to all 3. The narrator was okay not so good with Quinn’s voice made her a but cocky and annoying but the story was so good you got past it!

The narrator was a hoot

At first was a little unsure of the male narrators voice for female characters but it provided entertainment all on its own.

A captivating paranormal story.

This is quite different from other Nora Roberts stories that I have read to date with the strong paranormal story line, however it still contains all the things that we know and love about her work. The female voices almost ruin the performance, luckily the rest of the performance is very strong and entertaining.
