Extraordinary
An amazingly powerful book. Having been to Leningrad in 1990 for one short week, this book brings back to mind the whole uneasy feeling of the city at that time, and a desire to see it again in a newer, free atmosphere. Thank you Paullina for sharing this- I was in tears at times and I will return to revisit what is now. st Petersburg

Reality check
We take so much for granted in our lives from running water and electricity to the people around us and the security of routine and infrastructure. This book challenges our basic assumptions about what we need to be happy. It gives a great insight into a different culture and the sacrifices made by others so that we can live the way we do. It puts our pet peeves into perspective.
