Story
John Farnham is the quintessential Aussie legend. As a teenager he gave up an apprenticeship to chase his musical dreams, hitting the big time with the catchy pop ditty 'Sadie (the Cleaning Lady)'. But it wasn't smooth sailing from there. A family man at heart and the most loyal of friends, John was sometimes uncomfortable with the spotlight and for many years struggled to make his music career as successful as those close to him - including Glenn Wheatley and Molly Meldrum - could see it could be.

Story
For a man who has been firmly in the public eye for the past decade or more, Matt Preston has been very, very quiet about his past and private life. There are reasons for this. Now, in Big Mouth, Matt opens up about his early years for the first time—the good and the bad, the tragic and the ecstatic. Like the man himself, it's a story that's joyous, funny and larger than life. It's also, perhaps unexpectedly, filled with pathos and emotional depth, set to a pulsating 1980s soundtrack.

Story
George Michael was an extravagantly gifted, openhearted soul singer whose work was both pained and smolderingly erotic. He was a songwriter of true craft and substance, and his music swept the world, starting in the mid-1980s. His fabricated image—that of a hypermacho sex god—loomed large in the pop culture of his day. It also hid—for a time—the secret he fought against revealing: Michael was gay. George Michael: A Life explores the compelling story of a superstar whose struggles, as well as his songs, continue to touch fans all over the world.

misogynistic and homophobic
I've really tried to listen to the entire audiobook but at 10 hours in I'm going to have to give up. The authors approach to women and homosexual men in The Beatles' lives is archaic and there is an underlying prejudice there that leaves a nasty taste in the mouth. Also the recent 'Get Back' documentary has shown his research around those sessions to be nonsense. I'd give this a wide berth.

Brilliant couldn’t stop listening
The narrator did an excellent job. I love the history of the Beatles and Paul’s life after is really fascinating, many tragedies along the way that although well known still bring a tear to the eye.
I think it’s a fair representation of Paul’s life and massive legacy.
Getting to the end i can’t think of anything better to do than start listening to his songs.

Who knew!
So much information that missed the headlines, Paul telling his story and what a wonderful son, husband, brother, father he is. He had some strife but he is a good man, and the story told is how I came to this conclusion. It also gave me a better understanding of songs written by the Beatles and the meaning behind them. Long but worth the listen.

I thought I knew it all.....however
A very honest account of Paul McCartney, warts and all, the good, the bad, and the pure genius (the latter to which Paul is only too happy to remind us of). I thought I knew the 'Macca' story so well, however I knew nothing until I read this book. Philip Norman is a very honest and objective writer, all in all this book is well worth the read/listen. Now I'm on to his John Lennon book, I guess it'll be 'just like starting over'..... err sorry everyone!
