Publisher's Summary

Susan and Carlos were unlikely friends. She was a young, overweight college professor and a bit of a trainwreck - juggling a divorce, a pack-a-day habit, and hiding empty boxes of wine under her bed. He was her boss, an Ironman triathlete, with life figured out. She was a whiner, he was a hard-ass. He had his shit together, she most assuredly did not.

Trash-talking workouts, breakdowns, a devastating diagnosis - this heartwarming story of training buddies reveals a deep and abiding friendship that traversed life, sport, and everything in between. Their journey reveals the inspiring power of sports and friendship to change lives forever.

Amusing and poignant, Life's Too Short to Go So F--king Slow is about running and triathlon, growth and heartbreak, and an epic friendship that went the distance.

It will make you laugh and cry within minutes

Great story, and very well written. It will inspire you not to do an Ironman but to be a nice person to others.

Don't be put off by the title!

When I saw the title I thought this was another author who has jumped on the "f***ked bandwagon.
I decided to listen and was blown away by both the content and the narrator.
This is a great book. Bought me to tears, made me smile and almost made me cheer out loud. I did an Ironman 8 years ago and since then have let things slip in every way. This book has motivated me to stop going so f*cking slow!!
Highly recommend.

Beautiful, heartfelt and inspiring

I listened to this as a fill in between other books, not expecting much from it (I didn't even emread the blurb). I then proceeded to listen to it in one "sitting" whilst on a walk. Susan's writing style was fun and engaging, making me laugh out laugh enough times that I got some strange looks from others on the trail and brought me near to tears enough to do the same.
I highly recommend giving this book a listen or read.

Positive tale but too many unexplored themes

Had great hope for this book to inspire me. The story of friendship, one man's grit and his best friends hidden 'f#ck ups' was a hook enough. As a repeat offender myself, I understood. The book however leaves so many themes untouched. It glossed over major life events that had previously been the major focus for the author. Case in point, author suddenly has new boyfriend, relationship struggles, surprise author suddenly has alcoholism and like some sort of all knowing Yoda her cancer battling BFF appears, discovers her secret, active alcoholism apparently lasted another 2-years before sobriety but not discussed beyond 'it lasted 2-,years' but they kept cycling mountains, literally. Similiarly, in one line we discover the boyfriend who dropped out of her narrative is now her husband. Ummmmm???? when did that happen???? Way too short. I'd thought from reviews the size wouldn't matter, I'd get my monthly fill in a small package. Not so 😪
