Publisher's Summary

Best-selling authors David and Leigh Eddings welcome fans back to the time before The Belgariad and The Malloreon series. Join them as they chronicle that fateful conflict between two mortally opposed Destinies, in a monumental war of men and kings and gods.

When the world was young and Gods still walked among their mortal children, a headstrong orphan boy set out to explore the world. Thus began the extraordinary adventures that would mold that youthful vagabond into a man and the man into the finely honed instrument of Prophecy known to all the world as Belgarath the Sorcerer.

Then came the dark day when the Dark God Torak split the world asunder, and the God Aldur and his disciples began their monumental labor to set Destiny aright. Foremost among their number was Belgarath. His ceaseless devotion was foredoomed to cost him that which he held most dear - even as his loyal service would extend through echoing centuries of loss, of struggle, and of ultimate triumph.

Fantasy at its best

I've always love Eddings and this is the cream of the crop. He is a very male dominated author but that's his era I guess. Love the characters. Audio books are awesome.

Cameron Beierle - amazing performance of a great origin story

Cameron Beierle was born to voice Belgarath. Adds so much texture to a wonderful story. If you’ve read/listened to the Belgariad or Mallorean then this is a must.

Brilliance

I've always LOVED David Eddings work. I've read and re-read his work many times. So many in fact that during the audiobook I actually knew some of the sentences word for word. It is with beautiful wonderful delight that the narrator exceeded my expectations which is amazing considering high those expectations where. If you are a fan of David Eddings work or if this is your first experience (if it is I'd recommend the Belgriad series before starting on this) then make the time to get this audiobook. It sets a high bar for all other works.

Still part of one of the best Fantasy Sagas

The life history of Belgarath is an intriguing prequal to The Belgariad and The Mallorian series

Awful narration!

This is an amazing book ruined by terrible narration.

Within the first few seconds Belgaraths name was mutilated.
