Publisher's Summary

Yara Phillips is a wandering muse. She dates men who need her, but always moves on to something new, never staying in one place for very long.

David Lisey is in need of a muse. A talented musician lacking lyrical inspiration. When he first sees her, he knows he's found what he's been seeking.

Yara believes she can give David exactly what he needs to reach his full potential: a broken heart.

David’s religion is love. Yara’s religion is heartache. Neither is willing to surrender, but religion always requires sacrifice.

That's a lot to unpack.

This book kinda has an Eat, Pray, Love thing going on but more dramatic. And in Yara's case it's her friends that help teach her the lessons.
I feel like this book should've been called 'Love Yara'. Because it's more about her learning to love and accept love than the cover song for David's first hit album.
I kinda liked the fact that Yara was as dramatic and honest as she was and that David was honest when asked a direct question. This book gives us an insight into our insecurities, while it doesn't teach us how to overcome them, it does show us that they'll follow us until we confront them.
Yara couldn't move on with David until she had confronted Petra. But I don’t think Petra would've given up until she realised that David never stopped loving Yara. It also took years for Yara to learn how to accept love, in all forms, and until she was ready to publicly claim David she wasn't ready for his love.
Well written and easy to listen too. The narrators put a lot of emotion into their words and they were brilliant.
