Great 1st Book to a Series with Great Potential
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is for the audio copy of American Survivor, American Apocalypse, Book I: by AJ Newman and narrated by Kevin Pierce. First off, you need to understand that this is my favorite genre for audiobooks and narrated by my favorite narrator. This was an excellent start to what should be a great series. The character development was very good and the storyline is very believable. I think the people behaved and acted very much like what I would expect in a real life situation. This is one of those books where I did not want to stop listening. So every moment I could I had my earbud in and the story turned on. This has the potential to become an awesome series and one of my top ten. As usual the narrator did a superlative job with reading this story. Kevin always makes the story come alive in my mind and I can visualize the story as it unfolds. Keep up the great work and keep them coming.

It turns into a love story
I like these type of books. The survival after an EMP pulse or solar flare. The preppers are pretty much all the same, but this book portrayed the MC as not being to prepared, the average guy who gets caught up in the end result. So, it is a survival book but as usual all the survivors turn out to these right wing Christian types. "I will shoot and kill you if you don't leave" types, but you can leave, unlike the "bad guys" who just kill you first.
The disappointing part comes towards the end when this book turns into a soap opera. Woman throwing themselves at out hero, others playing hard to get, the last part of the book is your basic survival people finding each other, the word "love" is even mentioned, but only after a few choice encounters.... it turns into a crappy love story.
