Critic Reviews

"Lindsay C. Gibson, PsyD, gives practical insight into a prevalent problem.... The book is impeccably clear.... This utter lack of confusion makes the book quite soothing, despite the heavy subject." ( Foreword Magazine)

I love this book

I will listen to this book again and again to heal as much as I can. It’s so well written and interesting, inspires self-compassion and care of the self, and I would recommend it to anyone who was not seen, acknowledged or valued as a child and whose emotional needs weren’t met. I would also recommend it to anyone who is experiencing mental health symptoms like anxiety, depression or just feeling like something’s not right and they don’t really belong anywhere. Thank you so much Lindsay Gibson for this soothing and life saving book! 5 stars on every category!

Amazing listen

This book was very insightful. There were tears, realisations, and a level of comfort given with tools I was able to use to move forward. Most helpful book I’ve read in years.

So insightful

This book explained so much! A very informative listen. Highly recommended. The only negative point - I found the person reading to be quite robotic - so much that I wondered if the book what read by computer?

Life changing

It’s like the author has seen my past and described how and why I got to be certain ways. So many lightbulb moments that have finally freed me from past beliefs. I would highly recommend.

Hard hitting facts and closure

Wow. I have read a lot of books, and of course that contributed to who I am and how I understand things, but WOW this book really smashed home runs. The way the information was delivered with kindness, love, empathy and compassion, yet hard hitting all at once. I feel like I have gained so much closure in so many areas.

I cannot recommend this book enough.

It will change the way you view yourself, your parents, your grandparents, different generations, your children, your boss and work colleagues.

The things that hit the most:

The internalised vs externalised thinking, emotions and behaviours, in ourselves and in others, and how these function in sibling and family dynamics.

The ‘healing fantasy’. This left me speechless.

The different traits of immature parents, and how this plays out.

So many things I could say, it’s an incredible book. Highly highly recommend.
