Great rendition but not the unabridged novel!

Great performances- good screenplay but not the unabridged novel that was described! I especially enjoyed the cast discussion at the end.

Fantastic!

I listened to this with some trepidation. I first read Treasure Island 50 years ago, and have re-read it maybe 20 times since then. If they messed this up, I was going to be really upset.

Well.... they didn't mess it up! Tom Baker and the rest of the cast are wonderful, and the adaptation is straight down the line. This is no sentimentalized John Silver, the grim old pirate with a heart of gold: behind his hearty laugh, he's a cunning and ruthless devil.

Of particular note is the outstanding score by Howard Carter. The full orchestral suite is included in the extras Big Finish always provides. I only wish it were available separately so I could add it to my music collection.

Not the full running time.

As was done with Mary Shelley's Frankenstein the length of this book includes nearly an hour and a quarter of cast interviews and such like, which is ok but has definitely put me off buying again
However, a great cast makes this a great listen for just over 2 hours.
How good the book is heightens the sense of disappointment experienced through the shortness.

Really good fun

Very good. Shame no warning that last half hour is making of. But highly recommend never the less.
